It's 2013.  Do native American's still really need "protected status"?

Can Native Americans vote?   I assume so just like me.
Can Native Americans open casinos on reservations?   Yes but I can't.

Laws aren't applied evenly.   My rights have not been granted.

Native Americans technically have dual citizenship. Do you?

OK. It sounds like a situation where the reservations and US govt have a very unique relationship.  You want to call bullshit on the allowance of casinos there, I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you.

But there at least is a legitimate reason why this situation is in place.  We basically destroyed Native Americans tribes, and instead of forcing them to live in "our world" we allowed reservations for them so they have some ability to live the way they were comfortable living.  Now if you want to argue that there's a legitimate reason for allowing gays to not marry and have children, well, we're back where we started.

OK, this is why I didn't play the "Oh yeah, name one!!" game.

Every time a right is granted, taken away or never given, it's going to be "special circumstance".    Because, theoretically, we're all granted the same rights.  In reality, we are not.

Point remains.   Different circumstances require different laws(or "rights" if you will).

Maybe.  I'm 1/8th Cherokee.  Hell, I might be able to open a casino.  I should look into it.

"your country destroyed our way of living and murdered millions of our people"

"i'm sexually attracted to someone of the same sex"

I understand that the first sentence may require a special circumstance.  I don't understand why the second sentence does.

And also why it's ridiculous to play the "hey look here's something that's not really the same, **** the gays" game.

One these things is not like the others:

Blacks can't marry whites.
Gays can't marry other gays.
Any non-resident of Nevada, New Jersey, or an Indian Reservation is forbidden by state law from opening a casino.

Your lack of understanding is fairly obvious.

It's not a special circumstance if you're asking for the same rights as everyone else.

Are you OK with non-native Americans not being allowed to open casinos at their will?

Out of curiousity, what harm would come from me opening a casino half a mile down the street from Chief Nokahoma's casino?

Well that's what I mean. The analogy is that the special circumstance is "you can't marry your partner. everyone else can." "you cant open a casino. They can."

Honestly? Probably nothing. Harm to Chief's casino.

So, really, it's just some willy-nilly law that was made because the Chief and I are different people?
