Because the Democrats are just as stubborn and pig-headed as the Republicans.

Duh.
10/3/2013 3:18 PM
I think it's retarded to automatically assume everyone is at fault.

If the dems insisted that the CR included a 90% tax rate for anyone making over $100,000, would a the GOP be at fault for refusing?
10/3/2013 3:38 PM
If there were popular support for such a tax rate, as there is for the defunding of Obamacare, then yes, they would be at fault for refusing to negotiate.
10/3/2013 3:41 PM
Oh, if Dems put a proposal for a gun control measure and refuse to back down on it, including putting the government into shut down over it, then it's completely okay.
10/3/2013 3:43 PM
No.  It's not OK to shutdown the government over gun control.  Likewise, it's also not OK to shutdown the government over Obamacare.
10/3/2013 3:43 PM
If in 2007 when the Dems took over the House and Senate, if they refused to budge over defunding the Iraq War (which had a 33% approval), there's not a chance in hell you would blame "both sides" over a government shutdown.
10/3/2013 3:45 PM
So if there was a shutdown because the Dems wanted a gun control measure, you would blame both sides?

Are you assuming that I was in favor of the Iraq War?

Can you tell what else I am or am not in favor of?

Yes.

FYI, I find it fascinating that anybody can seem to infer that if somebody is in favor of A, that they MUST also be in favor of B, C, D and E, and MUST also be strongly opposed to F, G, H and I.

It's like the Amazing Kreskin!

If it's not ok to shut down the government over Obamacare, how is anyone but the house GOP at fault here?

The House passed a bill that would have kept the government open.  The Senate Democrats voted it down, effectively shutting down the government.  Over Obamacare.

How can you say they had no part in the shutdown?  They had an opportunity to avoid a shutdown.  They chose Obamacare over keeping the government open.

Do you really not understand that?

From the same article:

89% of all those polled believe that the Republicans have at least a little blame for the shutdown.
83% of all those polled believe that the Democrats have at least a little blame for the shutdown.
74% of all those polled believe that Obama has at least a little blame for the shutdown.

See?  There's a lot of blame to go around.  Not all on the GOP.

Also, 57% of all those polled believe that Obamacare will make health care more expensive.  Is that he goal of the ACA?
