I wouldn't have a problem with the cops searching my car, because I have nothing to hide.

Newsflash: if a cop asks who you are and what are you doing, and you choose to act like an ******* and not cooperate, expect the rest of your day to go a little less pleasantly.

So you're cool with his constitutional rights being trampled on?  Cause that's what happened here.  He has absolutely zero requirement to show any kind of ID in a state that doesn't have a stop and identify law.  I'd have acted just as he did, though I highly doubt I would have been accosted by anyone in that situation.
You can act any way you want in that situation.

Just don't act all surprised if the rest of your day doesn't go as you originally planned.

As I tell my wife occasionally: if you know that doing "x" is going to result in "y", and you don't want "y" to happen, then don't do "x".
