How do you use pitchers with great ratings for a starter but only three pitches, rated at a 75, 72, and 43? He has been shelled in the Bigs thus far but dominated in minors.

I don't think so.   Like it or not, SIMMY puts in the "best" LR based on the situation.   As a tandem B, he's automatically coming in when the A comes out.   I think the LRA role puts him in a more favorable situation. 

How much would it hurt to have a pitcher with great control.....3 pitches above 70, but have splits projected in the  65-75 range. I am interested in this guy, but I was wondering how much it would hurt to throw him in my rotation.  I realize he will not get full projections, as he is 26 and  I do not believe he will go from 75 to 85 in a season...at least his over all projections.  right now he is  84 stamina 93 control  left 60  right 63  velocity 84  pitches 76 74 77 47 . in 2 season in the ML he is 19-16 with a 4.03 ERA...his over all ratings are  right now 75..but I do not think he will reach his 84 projection...lefty/right  projected  68 and 75.... I realize he will not be a top starter...maybe a bottom of the rotation..but could you give me an idea of his worth?

I think you have a decent long reliever.   That 4.03 is probably the best you're going to get.   He should always be in the 4-4.50 range.   Which would make him about league average. 

Mike, is it better to promote a prospect 2 levels so he is with better coaches?  He was in Low A last season.  My High A hitting coach has a hitting rating of 54.  My AA Hitting coach has a hitting rating of 73.  He'll progress more with the AA guy, right?
