What happens to a player's salary if he his 1st time arb eligible with say 3.005 years of service, you arb him that time, but leave him in the minors all year so next year he's still at 3.005 years of service?  Would he go through arb again?  Just make 500K?  Something else?

Pretty sure he renews at the same.  Or maybe 59k, 62k.

That is not a question but you're welcome.

wierd question, if you have a guy you signed to a 4MIL deal then you release him (by accident but not relevant here), his salary is now 327k for another team, if I were to get this guy back at 327k and then trade him, would this take his whole 4mil off my books, or is he now 327k going forward regardless. thanks.

Almost positive that you're on the hook for the remainder after 327k, pro-rated, until the contract expires.   We're "corrected" a hissy-fit in Mantle and the owner was "stuck" with the guys we traded back to him or he had to eat the salary.

how important is it to you to have a strong armed c? obviously throwing out would be base stealers is part of a c's job. but if the pc and accuracy is good and the guy can hit, would you use a guy like that as a starter?

should I start up an 'ask the dedelman' thread?

Nah, I'm happy to chime in about once every 20 pages or so on this one.  Mike, are you OK with that as long as I'm OK with my posts having a half-life of 3 hours or so?
2/26/2015 10:46 AM
I generally use the guy who provides me the most value.    I've got some strong arm, high PC catchers and some that hit.   Mostly it's based on what's available and what the rest of my line-up looks like.

That is not a question.

He seems to like answering questions.

what is a good percentage for cs that I should try to get from a starting c?
2/26/2015 10:48 AM
I don't run the thread, I just answer questions.

League average is usually 30-35%.   If I'm in that ballpark, I'm happy.   If I'm getting 22%, I usually rethink what I'm doing.

Sergei-- I use catchers like this all the time.  Since DitR doesn't improve arm strength, every world has a bunch of 65/85/85 guys that can hit and have low durability; they end up having well better than average CS%.  Anthony Nagy is one example but I have several others.

Feel free to redline after reading.
Wait. DitR doesn't improve arm strength? I never noticed that before. Are there any other ratings that don't improve for DitRs?
2/26/2015 11:41 AM
I honestly don't know.  I've always looked at DITR as hitting the lottery.   Maybe you only won a buck or maybe you won 100k.  Doesn't matter what the numbers were.   If a guy improves enough to become a BL player, that's all I care about.

30 games left in a season, 3 games out of division race, tied with two other teams for wildcard, must of the starting line-up is hitting the 95% fatigue limit. Should I drop fatigue limit to 90% or even 85% so the starters play more games or keep it at 95%?

I'd play them until they croak.   Try to squeeze a day off here and there but, for me, it's all hands on deck.  I'd drop it to 80% and play for a playoff spot.
