Usually the determining factor is the other options. Diaz is the only one I'd use at SS and his bat doesn't really warrant it. As always, it's a plus/minus game. If your pitching staff can handle the extra work and you have another option that hits better/fields worse, it can be worth it. But I don't see that in those listed.

What happens if I have a guy who could potentially be a Type B draft compensation pick next season but he plays this entire season in AAA? Will he still get Type B status? Is it the same result if he only plays when the rosters expand at the end of the season?

Pretty sure comp picks are determined by overall. I don't think results play into that equation.

He won't do as well as you'd think. As you can see, this guy was similar(at his peak) and failed to OPS .700 on his career. He had a much better VL, similar VR and no eye. Your guy might be .700-.725. As a SS, he has value but I doubt you'll get what you'd expect in trade. He's got warts so you get something with warts in return.
