In OCD I had some extra cash so I blew it on Philip Wakeland.  I signed him at 1am and just 24hrs later he goes down for 65+ days w/o even appearing in a game. Anyone see anything like this before?

Not for that long but, yeah, I've seen injuries without playing.

I've never seen non-playing injuries for that long, nor prior to any game appearance at all in a season.

That said, if you've got enough in medical/training, the medical bug may deliver you a player with better power than before the injury, as well as better AS/AA (but not, I don't think, enough to where he can play 3B or anything like that).

This game is full of dissappointments. Lots more can go wrong than right.

Such as life...

In real life - look at the case of Mike Sirotka http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/sirotmi01.shtml

15-10 with a 3.79 era in 2000.  Blue Jays trade for him in the off season and he never pitches another game in the majors again...

And yet, comes no where near the amount of disappointments in MLB, ESPECIALLY with injuries.

ryan Madsen happily collected a cool 8 mil or so from the Reds after busting his elbow before the season started.

It's probably better that guy got hurt. Either that or he was going to hurt your lineup.

says the guy that's blowing 2.8M on Garrett Vander Wal in AAA...

Haha didnt realize I was wearing my 'come at me bro' t-shirt.

I signed him when I had 40+ million in leftover money and before I traded for 2 young SP. I have still transferred 20 million (our world max) to my prospect budget to sign an IFA.

Had I not traded for those 2 pitchers would he be on my ML team? Yes.
Should I have NOT traded for those 2 pitchers because I signed Vander Wal for 2.8m when I had $40+ mil in space? That wouldn't make sense.

And for the record I think it's a better investment to pay a guy with a 3.96 career ERA 2.8 million than it is to pay a guy with a .259 career average 4 million.

Thanks for your input though.

I remember in a  roto league having a Brewers pitcher go on the DL and he was out quite some time....he was injured when his kid shoved a Q-tip in his ear. How does that happen?   I've had players shot and arrested and the game after I acquired Brady Anderson doesn't he trip over the batting cage and hit the 15-day DL. There has to be a million non playing injury stories.....such is life.

As did Chone Figgins last year (and the year before and the year before)...oh wait.  He wasn't hurt.  Nevermind.
