Best offense ever? Topic

Has anyone seen an offense better than this. I don't think I've seen better in any of my seasons. I won't bother posting Stats as I play in KC and all parks are different. but all the players perform adequate to stellar defense.

1B platoon...the weakest part of my lineup.

Way to hard to look at all those links for me.

Didn't there used to be a way to link players, teams etc?

I was bored enough this afternoon to put that lineup in a spreadsheet.  I averaged the ratings for the platoon guys, except used their appropriate L/R split.

I rated the defense ~A at 3B and Catcher; ~C at 2B, SS, LF, RF, 1B; ~D in CF.

KC's lineup averages:
Con-78
Pow-79
vsL-83
vsR-75
Eye-77
Spd-48
BsR-62
Dur-81

In other words, pretty impressive.  I wouldn't be playing Patterson in CF personally, but it's a great collection of sticks.

I compared it to my team that just scored a billion runs in Colorado and they're fairly similar.  KC's averages, especially in L/R are better due to us having an all-glove SS, but I'm guessing they're similar overall, considering we play decently better defense.

Pssht. I had guys hit 69, 58, 46, 41, and 35 homers for the same team this year...AT AA!!!

Thanks for the analysis, I guess I could have just linked the roster

Killbatman, what makes you rate Herrera at 2nd a C for defense? Or my 1b/ COFs.

Id think 81,76 at 2b is pretty decent, its not gold glove but definitely not subpar.

COFs of 73,69 range is also pretty stellar in my opinion.

1b (400ABs of the platoon) sees 63,78,66,75 at defense. Come playoff time I will probably end the platoon as well and just go with this guy and leave the switch hitter to the bench.

I agree Patterson in CF with 81,73 is a burden its my weakest defensive position, I used to have a much better defender there with 88,88 type defense and 90,0,95,95,60 type offense with amazing speed, base running but I just thought I got better value paying 8mil for a .900 slugger than paying 6-7mil for a 650 slugger with better def, havent won a WS since I made that decision though.

I don't mean to claim these are perfect or anything, was just trying to set some values to compare.  And of course any criticism is nit-picking for a team that's won 100+ a number of seasons in a row.

I actually had Herrera as C+, but lumped the C-, C, C+ together for convenience describing them.  C+ maybe sounds not great, but I'm treating C as baseline/average, so C+ is a tiny bit above average.  I have my 2B as the same grade with 76/82 range/glove.

At 1B I had Perez at C- and Gold at B+ to get to an average of about C+.  Probably should've bumped that up since the better defender plays more.

re: corner OF, it wasn't the range I didn't like, but the gloves.  73 range is good for LF, but 44 glove really isn't.  I basically offset those and gave him a C..maybe I'm underselling him because his stats have been solid.  RF is similar with a ok/good range and arm, but a weak glove.  I gave Franco a C+.

Patterson is obviously still a net plus, but I would worry about him hurting my pitching staff more than I'm seeing.  If it were me, I would strongly consider playing him at LF and sliding Brinson down to 1B where they'd both become excellent fielders.  Of course you'd need someone capable of filling in at CF, but it's something to think about maybe.

My Baltimore team in Banks has the best O I have ever been able to put together as they try to defend their WS title. But it is not as good as this KC team.

Con-75
Pow-73
vsL-78
vs-R78
B Eye-78

Where it stands statistically in the world:
Avg-.276 4th
OBP-.354 1st
SLG-.473 2nd
OPS- .826 1st
Runs-486 3rd
Hits- 854 3rd
HR- 151 1st
BB-341 1st
strike outs-476 32nd

I have had some cogs not working in the lineup which has been frustrating and through 86 games I am 2.0 GB in 2nd place in my division. Fielding has been solid but my pitching has been surprisingly sub par. I hope that this team can step it up 3 or 4 notches in the second half of the season.

Through game 149 I have a team that's scored 933 runs with a slash line of .287/.356/.495 in Jose Can U C.  I don't know how everything averages out as far as ratings but the team is first in AVG, OBP, SLG, Runs, HRs.  Should get to 1,000 runs but will be close.

Yes - only 7 ML teams in the 20th century did it, the the last being the 1999 Indians (and it was 1950 before that).  Happens more often in HBD I'm sure, but it's still a pretty lofty goal.

In my 4 worlds, the high was 910(one other had 904) in the last completed season.    The average is just over 700.
4/3/2014 9:52 AM
The Colorado team I mentioned above has scored 1191, 1091, 1195, 1093 the last four seasons..848 the last season before we moved from Honolulu with a similar-ish lineup.  Several other teams in the league in the 900s each season, but no others 1000+ in the seasons I checked.
4/3/2014 12:09 PM
It's not apples to apples but some of the older leagues in their early seasons have had dozens and dozens of teams with better offenses.  Not kidding.  The numbers that were put up were ridiculous until they tweaked the engine. In Second City, the first 5 seasons there were a total of 53 teams that scored over a 1000 runs.  53....that number is ridiculous. There were several teams that hit over 300 hrs in a season and had an OPS over .900.

OK, I guess I'll toss my squad in here...

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - El Paso Group W Bench Franchise Profile

In the most recent season (s20), this NL franchise (read: dead-weight pitcher always the mix) scored 1074 runs.  This topped both leagues— nearest AL squad scored 908 runs.

Team runs:  1074  (1st)
Team avg:  .295     (1st)
Team OBP:  .363   (1st)
Team SLG:  .481   (1st)
Team OPS:  .844   (1st)
Team HR:  232       (7th)
Team SB:  381       (1st)

Team 2B:  307        (1st)
Team 3B:  45          (t-2nd)
Team INF:  135       (4th)
Team SF:   32          (1st)
Team GIDP:  72      (1st    -lowest)

This all happened in the (present) dead-ball era of HBD, and the roster also produced the #1 defense.  El Paso is a pitcher's park, depresses HRs.
