When looking at SP what would you consider "better".
Stam/con 76/90 with a 70s vR and P1 81 P2 79 P3 66 two more pitches
Or
Stam/con 90/81 with vR 51 p1 87 p2 71 p3 68 one more pitch.

All other attributes are very similar pitcher 1 is 26 with an 83 makeup pitcher 2 is 23 (3 yr) with 67 makeup.

I have had decent success with a guy like pitcher two before in TB and just wondering what people's thoughts are, on pitch vs vR. Since p1 is the "out" pitch.

VR 51 is well below league average.   Sometimes it works.  Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: George Cannon

Pitcher 1 looks like a solid #2 or 3 to me. Pitcher 2 is a back of the rotation innings eater. The difference in their pitches is not nearly enough to make up for the huge difference in their splits.

I've only played 7 seasons, so I'm no expert, but when I look at players in my worlds, guys with splits in the high 70s and higher are always among the league leaders. Guys with splits in the 50s are usually on the weak teams finishing with ERAs over 4.50.

I would take #1 to be my ace on any of my teams (assuming his vL is equally high). #2 would never see my rotation. Might use him as a mop up guy or maybe long relief if I wanted to be cheap and had a good starting staff.

If a pitcher has one pitch 80+ and one pitch 70+, I normally don't care what his other pitches are.

Are these projections or currents? The 26yo won't improve much more.

That's kind of how Cannon got a shot.    I just needed a cheap arm in the pen.

Those are his currents, he's been around for 8 years so he's done. Would normally like number 1. Have had success with a guy like number 2 before would have to trade a lot for the other guy and not sure how much would be too much

Guys with a split in the 50's get  hit hard.  They can get away with it if they have a 85+ split on the other side and control and a great #1.  But even then, if the low # is against righties...they are going to get hit.

I have very high hopes for this rookie with a 53 vR   Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Al Johnson  His options are burned at age 23.   He's staying with the BL team from here on out.    So far, so good....

There are no absolutes with borderline BL players.   Sure, a pitcher with 29 control and 39/42 splits will get bombed.    But, you take a 51 VR and surround it with acceptable control(Cannon has 57 which some people think is unacceptable), a good VL, some nice pitches then throw in a high GB/Vel and you might end up with a guy who's at, or above, league average.   Who wouldn't take 440 innings of 3.98 ERA for cheap?

tell that to  Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Wil Bush
Helps to play in Seattle.  And yea, his pitches help him out a ton.  For what it's worth, I'd guess that ERA climbs.
