Just wondering, how much do people look at Makeup rating when considering a draft pick? Do you have a number that you consider a dealbreaker (like, if a guy is below 40 you'll pass him up)? How low does the number have to be for a guy to miss his projections by a significant amount?

I'm pretty extreme here, but I barely look at Makeup for draftees.  If it's very low-- say, 40 or less-- I'll drop the guy some.  I do look at Makeup when I'm signing an older guy to a long-term contract; I'm pretty convinced that it's a solid predictor of early decline.

I never look at it at all for draftees.  I've seen low makeup guys develop just as well as high makeup guys.

I don't look at it either for draftees.   But I don't think the low guys develop as well as the high guys and I know they decline faster/earlier.

I don't look at it unless I'm undecided on a couple of guys. I tend to use makeup and patience as tiebreakers when I can't otherwise make up my mind between two players when I'm ranking prospects for the draft.

I don't put makeup on drafties until after they are assigned and even then only with consent.
