Classifying Player? Topic

I am guessing this is a tool for people who don't know their teams well enough or have bad memories.

It's been around for a while and I find it to be pretty useful.

Haha I never used it or noticed for that matter.

I have plenty of bad memories.

Oh wait, sorry, that's not what you were...

I use it to classify my own prospects so I can check them a glance. I'm sure other people use a variety of other methods.

Cool. Thanks my friend.

I use them as reminders.  Mostly about planning for future seasons.  Anything from "promote this guy before end of season" to "make sure you release him before arb."  I never use the Player Notes because once I write a note I remember what it is without having to look at it.  All I need is the visual reminder... "red dot... let him walk in free agency."  That kind of thing.

Green dot, keepers. Orange dot, best I have but hoping to improve/trade, red dot, hate them with a passion.

Makes it easier to add players to ST roster.    Have a dot, they're important and need to be developed.   And to make sure who to rest when fatigued.   Have a dot, have a seat if you're tired, son.  You're too important to get hurt while fatigued.

I started with the same setup but stopped using red for worthless players, and just leave them without a dot. Use Red now for players who are intriguing for one reason or another — DITR candidates, one or two extreme ratings, etc.

And I've found it very useful. Memory fades, dots are forever.

They are so forever that if you forget to remove them prior to trading the player, they'll still show up. Which can be humiliating if they wind up on the all star team or something.

But no one else can see the ones you place on players except you, right?

I *think* so - and hope so. I did submit a ticket about 'clearing' the classification when a player changes hands. A minor nuisance but still a nuisance.

No one else can see them but, if you trade a guy, you can still see them on the other team.    And, of course, that team can see their "old" dots.

Correct.
