The coach in me would love to see what this 19 y/o SS is capable of in the majors (I'd forgive his accuracy for now) Player Profile: Wascar Aguilera - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports. But the GM in me says to pump the brakes seeing as I have no ML pitching staff to speak of. He could conceivably max out the fielding ratings (along with power and eye), though I doubt it. Too bad about his vRHP.

I thought that the game penalizes you in certain cases if a player is at a level not appropriate to the players age. But maybe high Patience/Temper/Makeup overrides that.

Man 9 games down after 25. Tough spot. Still a toss up for me based on the fact that 21 years old and up I really like to get the guy matched up with the ML coaching staff who are typically 85+. Really it is more about what is best for the player than the eventual draft position. With the update I have found that if I budget properly I get one of my top 5 guys even with the 15th pick. So not that big of a deal to have a bit worse of a draft spot as it used to be.

Also with position players I tend to be willing (If the team is competing) to bring them up earlier than pitchers because the pitchers age significantly better in their mid 30's than position players. So if I am trying to get their 11 (or 10+) best seasons it is pretty likely that 21 years old is one of the 11 best he will have. Galvez is good enough that my thinking here might not apply because he should still be able to hit .300 at 32 years old assuming he stays healthy.

Draft position doesn't really play into it. I'm not going to be picking top 5. Most likely, I'll be mid/upper teens. Losing to get to 12 from 15 is retarded. Especially since I bust people's *** for doing just that. Again, I just don't think Galvez moves the needle that much by himself. But, if my team begins to play more like I expected and some of the better records fall back a little, I can still call him up. Truth is, my LF was a platoon until an injury. Had the injury been to the RH guy starting now, Galvez would have gotten the call. After 20.

Yeah, a lot more value later in the draft with the caveat that pre-draft DUR/STA can make a turd look like stud even at $20M scouting.

Haley is hurt. Mota would move to 2B/3B. Mateo would go to RF. Weaver/Johnson/Juarez would play 2B/3B with one being shipped down. Or maybe Wolf plays an error-filled 2B and Mota 3B.

I've got a few options but I just don't know that Galvez makes a difference unless a few of the players start hitting better.

The only teenager I ever used was Paco Trevino. In order to sign him in S18 as an 18 year old IFA I had to give him ML contract to boost my offer, so he was already on my 40-man roster anyways..

BUT I only used him at the very very end of his S19 season, he was something like 73 OVR and was better than my long relievers at the time so I plugged him into a 25-man spot right for the last 3 cycles to help out in the playoffs while still preserving service time. I can't imagine he would have done much better than replacement-level in prolonged S19 regular season stint that season, he wasn't good enough yet. In S20 I would have called him up right away after 30 cycles or whatever but I have a superman pitching staff on that club and didn't have any roster spots until a guy got hurt midseason. Kind of laughable that he went 15-0 in AAA, wasted a few ML WAR i'm sure, hopefully he doesn't retire with 295 career wins or something stupid like that

Edit: We missed the playoffs in S19 by 1 game / tiebreaker so he doesn't appear on the playoff log but he does have 1 regular season ML appearance in the books

Now I'm in a tough spot. A good run has us within 2 of the WC2 at 31-33. Normally, with a losing record and less than 100 to play, it's not a decision. But the world is tightly bunched around .500 thru the entire NL. He's still a LF so I'm not sure he's the answer.

He's also starting to fatigue so I might sit him for 15 games in AA and see where we are at the halfway point.

There aren't that many situations where I can see playing this guy in the majors now. If (a) you're right in the thick of a really tight playoff race and (b) your current 2B or 3B really needs a platoon partner to hit LHP, then maybe... but (c) he's not likely to help you much right now at any position against RHP, and (d) you'll slow his development by dropping him into the wrong side of a platoon and lowering his playing time.

He's going to be a stud, though... you'll want a semi-platoon partner for him with that low DUR but he'll be durable enough to play 120 games and the other ratings will get good enough to overwhelm the VsR.

The youngest player I ever called up to the Majors was 19. I didn't start his clock because it was in the playoffs (World Series actually) but he was absolutely ready offensively but defense needed more work. He was a 2b but at 19 could only play LF for me and already had a HOF LF. So he was a 19 year old pinching hitting, pinch running, defensive replacement in the WS. After the season I made a trade to open a spot for him. That guy is now 37 years old and still putting up all star caliber numbers.

What is missing in the discussion is the players development which should improve if he is playing full time in the majors vs the minors if in fact you have better coaching which I assume to be the case. Boat loads are spent scouting and signing talent then owners try and figure out a way to land some lower cost games from the prospect while over looking his development. Just my 2 cents.

There is a real chance that https://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerRatings.aspx?pid=7698563

Will be in my majors and stick before the end of the season. I was going to have him in for the beginning of the season but he had a horrible spring training.

Gotta love spring training. Its meaningless unless the player has a really bad one. Then it means everything.
