What does HBD success really mean? Topic

Which of the following is more successful:

over ten seasons to win 85+ every season (or 9 out of ten) and make the playoffs 6-7 times with little playoff success

or to win a couple World Series, win 100+, and couple it with a couple 95 loss seasons?

Ive seen it argued both ways.

Making the playoffs consistently. 5 and 7 game series are a crapshoot.

Multiple seasons of 90+ losses is no fun. Putting up with it for 1 year isn't so bad, but it gets boring after that.

HBD success really means nothing. (Not that I would know)

What does HBD success really mean?
Enjoying the challenge of playing. Ultimately, the game is just a bunch of 1s and 0s in a server somewhere.

You could easily say that fielding a 90 win team every year is the toughest thing to do. But at the end of the day I'm trying to win the world series, so I would have say that is the greatest success.

Good answer. Unless your idea of "challenge" and "enjoying" means losing 120 for 6 seasons while stockpiling young talent for your hopeful dynastic run. And let's not pretend there aren't some who see it exactly that way.

That's fill-in-the-blanks, not a challenge by any stretch of the definition. I'd think the only way to enjoy that route would be to convince oneself that anyone gives a **** about a picture of a trophy won by 1s and 0s. And yes, there are some who see it that way. I'll probably lose a playoff series to one in the near future.
