We're down to one team - join us and start play immediately!. This is a top-notch world with no drama and a high level of competition. Sitemail commissioner gtnotes with interest.
NL East (formerly Pittsburgh): Been bobbing around .500 for years, making a run here and there (3 Division titles in the last 8 years) but never really breaking out and never being bad enough to get great draft picks. Decent payroll (about $65MM with 17 players under contract and a couple of arb cases), 16th pick in this year's draft. Fans are REALLY BORED...they need an exciting new owner! Can you breathe new life into this thing?
AL North (formerly New York): Been a few years since they've been a factor, but meanwhile they've been loading up infield talent in their minors (Julio Valentin, Courtney Lord, Fernando Henriquez). They do have some talent at the big-league level to work with - DH Del Hasegawa hit .342, 1B Gus Lo went .297/37/112, and SP's Marcus Womack and Felipe Martin are solid. #6 pick in the upcoming draft.
AL West (formerly Sacramento): Fortunately, most of their not-very-high payroll is devoted to talented players like SP Fritz McCurry, SS Len Clapp, P Walter Palmer (arb), RF Ivan Rosa, and superstar 1B Alex Oliver (arb...he WILL rebound from a terrible Season 26). Beyond that there are a bunch of min-salary guys (who should be) and a handful of arb cases that should probably be released. All-in-all, a pretty good starting place for a new owner...#5 pick in the upcoming draft.
