Poll: ways to improve HBD (& classified ad) Topic

Here for the poll?  Scroll down past the classified ad, and enjoy!

Hi everybody—  Schmidt needs SIX new owners.  Several available franchises made the playoffs, and none are bad.  Please see below.

Of all HBD worlds, Schmidt might have the deepest roster of skilled owners who have won 1 or several world series titles.  This is a very good world for swapping strategies, polishing skills and testing your stuff against quality competition.

Inexperienced owners are welcome.  Our veteran owners have historically been very generous with advice and coaching, but we also recommend new owners refrain from trades for the first season as they learn the ropes.

We have a minimum win requirement (MWR) to discourage tanking.  Repeat: we in Schmidt loathe tanking.  Fall below the threshold (120 wins over 2 seasons) and a 5-member committee reviews the case and recommends either dismissal or probation.  That 120 win threshold for 2 seasons is generally pretty easy to meet, even if you're trying to exit a few veteran contracts and pursue prospects.

Highest priorities are good humor and minimal drama.

We look forward to hearing from you!  You may post below or sitemail the commish (me)

AVAILABLE FRANCHISE:

NL South (formerly Monterrey Walking Tacos)

This franchise has a mix of youth and veterans, emphasizing power and basestealing.  There's no slouches in this division, so gear up for a challenge.

AVAILABLE FRANCHISE:

NL North (formerly Trenton Continentals)

Defending division champion with star talent on the ML roster (e.g. perennial MVP candidate Everth Ramirez ) and rising starts still on the farm (e.g. Wilt Brocail  and Stefen Brito ).

AVAILABLE FRANCHISE:

NL North (formerly Ottawa franchise)

Previous owner wrecks did a great job starting the turnaround.  Payroll here is negligible, and you're looking at the #3 draft pick this season.  ML roster already features excellent, inexpensive talent (e.g. 3B Charlie Jacobsen ), and the minors feature future superstar Yuniesky Colome and likely perennial all-star SS Max Burnett.

What's the obvious missing element?  Pitching.  At least with a #3 pick in the draft you can be assured of fixing that issue promptly.

AVAILABLE FRANCHISE:

NL East (formerly Cleveland Diesel Legends)

Now here's a franchise definitely on the rise:  the young stars are under control, affordable, and litter the roster.  See?  Here's just two:
Jason Meyers
Rick Barclay
And maybe the best relief pitcher prospect you've ever seen:  Esteban Baurista

There's even an ace SP in the house:  Ricardo Rodrigo

AVAILABLE FRANCHISE:

AL South (formerly Florida Jaguarundi Franchise)

Perennial playoff squad with stud pitching and position players.  Examples: SP Dennis Dillon and 2B Neifi Cairo.

AVAILABLE FRANCHISE:

NL East franchise (formerly New Britain Monarchs)

Another perennial playoff squad that got mismanaged last season, but not for lack of talent.  This season you can expect the #12 draft pick and compensation for multiple Type A free agents.

The hardest to meet roster needs already have young fixtures in place…
CF Doug Rogers
SS Yadier Bennett
SP Eddie Crisp

It's an unusual blend of young prospects, playoff-worthy veterans, and a chance to re-load immediately with an aggressive draft.

AVAILABLE POWERHOUSE FRANCHISE:

NL West (formerly Seattle Thunderbirds Franchise)

Schmidt legned aaron_clarke has stepped down, leaving vacant the most successful franchise in world history.  Cy Young-quality SPs and MVP-caliber players up and down the roster here.  Combination of vets and youth.  Payroll is currently high, but you definitely get what you pay for with this assemblage of stud talent.
