Free team with #1 pick-- early start for Schmidt s26 Topic

Gentle Reader,

Schmidt World is about 80% done with season 25, and our recent head-count of returning owners indicated everyone is returning, except:

AL West— former San Francisco Niners franchise

This was a multi-season rebuild that has minimal payroll obligations going forward and real prospects ready for ML service.  Observe:

Present day ace:   Player Profile: Nathan Rizzuto - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

ML-ready 2B/CF borderline MVP-type player:   Player Profile: Merkin Durbin - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

Mid-rotation SP prospect:  Player Profile: Luis Corpas - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

ML-ready high AVG 3B:  Player Profile: Cole York - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

Toolsy outfielder-type, top 10 draft pick:  Player Profile: Dillon Stroman - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

Somewhat over-rated but pretty good #2 draft pick COF:  Player Profile: Midre Duncan - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

There's more, but I don't have time to sift through the whole farm system to post it here.

Also, you can safely anticipate the #1 draft pick in the coming Rule5 and amateur drafts.

Faithful GM rounders31 cannot return next season to continue the re-build, so he has graciously offered to let his successor take over early and get a head start on trades and personnel decisions.

If you will commit to play in Schmidt for season 26, we are happy to welcome you early.  In fact, as of this writing, this franchise is the only opening we anticipate for season 26, so if you take it over now, we might be looking at a smooth and quick rollover in 2 or 3 weeks.

If interested, please sitemail the GM (me:  zzookeepp) or post below.  Please remember that if you have taken over another team recently, Admin is unlikely to let you take over another like this one.

A LITTLE INFO ABOUT SCHMIDT WORLD

Of all HBD worlds, Schmidt might have the deepest roster of skilled owners who have won 1 or several world series titles.  This is a very good world for swapping strategies, polishing skills and testing your stuff against quality competition.

Inexperienced owners are welcome.  Our veteran owners have historically been very generous with advice and coaching, but we also recommend new owners refrain from trades for the first season as they learn the ropes.

We have a minimum win requirement (MWR) to discourage tanking.  Repeat: we in Schmidt loathe tanking.  Fall below the threshold (120 wins over 2 seasons) and a 5-member committee reviews the case and recommends either dismissal or probation.  That 120 win threshold for 2 seasons is generally pretty easy to meet, even if you're trying to exit a few veteran contracts and pursue prospects.

Highest priorities are good humor and minimal drama.
