The team:

AL East (currently Trenton): this team has some veteran ML talent worth keeping, and a very manageable ML payroll of $47.7 for next year.

But the real draw of this team is:  5 superstar prospects already in the system, plus the #1 or #2 pick for the coming season.

Edgar Martin (Sea25 IFA): ML debut this year, OPS'ing .800 while playing out of position at SS (3B best, OK at 2B as well)

Darren Walton (Sea26 #8): Switch-hitting OF OPS'ing .992 in ML debut (131 AB's so far)

Miguel Ramirez (Sea27#2): Infielder, probably AAA next year and then up to ML

Trenidad Durazo (Sea 28 #9); another infielder, probably 2 seasons away

Jenry Zumaya (Sea29 #1): lefty OF projects to a .420 OBP, .550 Slugging % hitter

The future is clear with this one.  All you have to do is put a little pitching around these guys and not screw it up.  Ask me questions if you need to, but this is pretty much the picture on this one.

?  Minimum win requirement of 55 for 1 season and 125 over 2 seasons.  And we DO ENFORCE IT - we'll have at least 1 casualty this year.

?  We also have an "individual player salary cap":  $15MM salary and $5MM bonus for the first year of a contract, and $15 salary + bonus for subsequent years.  We've found this has distributed FA talent more evenly and lessened the incidence of abandoned teams with payroll bloat.

?  We work very hard on retention and recruiting (obviously we start super-early on it).  As a result, WE DON'T WAIT TO START.  Once we roll over, it cranks up in a day or 2.

?  We're early on...still pre-playoff, and we may be able to get a new owner in early to preserve better scouting budgets (still have to confirm that with old owner)
