half way point.  problem time to guess at the "cutoff point" to  progress to the next round?  guessing its around 36 wins through 81?

My guess would be putting it closer to 37.

My 6 teams in round #2 with their final regular season results:

106W-56L     1906P/1970H     AL East #6
102W-60L     1919P/1991H     NL East #3
102W-60L     1904P/1960H     AL East #4
100W-62L     1908P/1919H     AL East #8
93W-69L       1917P/1981H     AL East #1
92W-70L       1902P/1902H     AL East #2

The 100+ win teams won their divisions while the 90+ win ones got the WCs.
My 6 teams in round #3 with their final regular season results:

114W-48L     NL 1905-1906     NL Central #1
88W-74L        AL 1930-1931     AL Central #2
99W-63L        AL 1945-1946     AL East #3
97W-65L        NL 1964-1965     NL East #4
95W-67L        NL 1985-1986     NL East #5
88W-74L        AL 2000-2001     AL East #6

All 6 teams won their divisions, highlighted by NL 1905-1906 team finishing with the best record overall in round #3 and the AL 2000-2001 squad having to sweep the final 4 games to make the postseason.  Don't know how much longer I can keep all 6 going...

Looks like 80 wins is a safe number for discretionary slots... Guessing 79 will be the bubble, or perhaps 78... We're only in half of the leagues so I can't say for certain, though.

Our only non playoff team got 80 wins, good enough for Top 6 Non-Playoff in League 5, so all three of our teams are through to round 4...

Cut-off point for making the next round:  78 or more got you in.  77 was the break-point - three teams with 77 wins made the cut and two didn't.  It starts getting more difficult from here.  From Round Three to Round Four, two-thirds of the teams made it to the next round.  From Round Four to Round Five, only half will make it.  Same with Round Five to Round Six and from Round Six to Round Seven.

All in all, Round Three was a KILLER for me.  With 11 teams going in, I only had four earn a spot in Round Four - one in each league.  Bleeeeeech!!!

There's a round Seven  ?

And for the championship final (where the winner is declared), I assume it will be whoever wins the WS in that league (or is it based on regular season wins).

Don't ask me where I got Round Seven - I think I'm having flashbacks from my wild-child days of the 70's...

The Tournament winner will be the World Series winner of Round SIX.

EDIT:  Also, to correct my statement made above...

I wasn't comfortable with my figuring the first time (too much to drink last night) so I refigured it again today and I've got it right - the cut-off was 77 Wins on the nose.  If you had a team that finished with 77 or more wins, they made the cut for the next round.  76 or fewer and you didn't make it.

Freaking typical...

I have three teams make the playoffs.  All three make it past the first round.  Then, all three are bounced in the second round...

So far this round has been an utter disaster except for a single team.  No doubt about being able to advance 6 into the next round is now over.

On the bright side, at least my AL 1945-1946 round 3 team went into the $110m TOC after losing the WS and somehow managed to go 17-2 to win my first TOC title last night.

Congrats BG!  I've never even sniffed a TOC Championship...

Man, I've never felt closer to saying to hell with this game and this site than I do right now.  About a week ago, of my four teams in this round, one was DEFINITELY going to make it to the next round, one was right on the cusp (playing .500 ball) and one was six games under .500 but coming on strong.  Now, in the last 10 games, those three teams are (1) 3-7 in their last 10 and currently riding an L3, (2) 2-8 in their last 10 and currently riding an L7, and (3) the one that needed to continue comng on strong is only 5-5 in their last 10.

I went from having a possible two or three advance to maybe NONE advance.  My best team of the three is now only three games above .500.  Looks like I may have to get at least one proxy commish for the next round...

Well... from my research, assuming I'm right in that there's no auto-pass for bad division winners... 81 wins is the cutoff, with exactly one 81 win team getting denied entry... knowing my luck, it'll probably be mine... (if there is that pass, then a single 80 win team is added and there are two 81 win teams that did not make the playoffs denied... again, probably mine...)

Well this round didn't start out very well with my White Sox team stumbling to a 6W-20L start... but somehow turned it around to finish with 96 wins.  Had two really good teams, a sub-average one and a very bad one:

99W-63L     1901-1938 Boston Red Sox          AL Central #2
96W-66L     1901-1920 Chicago White Sox    AL West #1
77W-85L     1960-1995 Atlanta Braves            NL East #2
68W-94L     1967-1980 Cincinnati Reds          NL Central #1

Should end with 2 top 4 picks going into the final league...
