Below is the mock for the revamped Team Center page.

We will begin exposing previous leagues/teams for both SimLeagues and TOCs. The Draft Center section will be expanded to show more details.  Sections are collapsible and will be associated with the account, so you won't have to close each team if you don't care about the details.

You'll notice a rotating section at the top where we will promote various game-related features:  HBD (if you've never played), a featured SimLeague in progress, the game of the week, SimLeagues LIVE, etc.

I don't like the graphics and links to play above the Team Center. I think there is a place for everything and having it separate like it is now is better than combining them as it is distracting and I know myself I spend little time in My Locker. It gives the look of a hard sell and quite frankly, I'm sold already.

I don't understand why a team center has "owner" field... If that's supposed to be for the commish, why do open leagues have one? If it's the user, wouldn't those all be the same?

the more crap you put at the top, the more junk i have to scroll down through to get to my teams

msn menu, wis menu, simleague header, and now a big fat billboard

it's not ergonomic. i get carpal just thinking about it

when i come to my team center it is to manage my teams

to make a couple of lineup adjustments or pitcher changes and get back to real life

just count the page hits and put all the junk i don't use at the bottom

Too busy and confusing.

Honestly, I'm not really sure what all is going on there. Could we get an explanation of what's what on this screen? Some of what seems intuitive by name doesn't seem to have the data that I would expect it to have, and some of the data that seems reasonable for the section seems to conflict with what I would think its purpose is (i.e., owner). I'm all for a redesign, but it needs to be intuitive and to make sense from a playing standpoint. Where are our teams and our draft center? The rest is mostly fluff and the fluff, while it can be useful or fun, isn't what drives the game, so it should be out of the way, not front and center.

I understand the concept of putting something that everyone will look for out of the way because they'll find it and you want to highlight or showcase that which tends to be ignored, but as someone else said above, we're already sold, we don't need to be sold on the site.

I am sure your team worked hard on this and I appreciate the effort, but I don't see any added functionality in this aside from the live draft (I assume, since I never live drafted).

Also, overall the page is more cluttered and more confusing.  There are 4 different headers before we get to the table that I care about the most. The side grass and infield dirt graphic is distracting and overall the new "look" is much busier than the old look.  I honestly understand and appreciate the need for a site facelift, but I do not think this new design will attract new users and it just might annoy a few older users.

If you really wanted to make an improvement, I'd suggest adding an option for a more detailed view where we could see the (pitching and team) match-up for our next game.  You could also have a matrix of buttons to link directly to a league, manager's office or GM's office for any given team.

I use the Team Center to check on my teams ... stick with the basics, please!  And an 'owner' field???  Get rid of all the clutter (a.k.a. crap!)

The game is getting stale, there's no new functionality being discussed....

And we're doing a visual re-design.

To me, this is like someone with a 20 year old beater car, the A/C doesn't work, the arial is a twisted coat hanger, one of the headlights is burned out,  the seats are torn, the radio only picks up AM, and the transmission is slipping.  So the owner decides to repaint it with flames.

why have a tab for "game of the week" when it hasn't been updated since August of last year?

Get rid of the giant banner.  I'm forced during the day to access this site from my iPhone.  The more clutter on the page the harder it is.  The "Forum" button and bar in general could be a bit larger, I'm always clicking and getting the MSN link instead. Why do I need both the "Join a SimLeague" up top and then "New Team" at the bottom, seems repetitive.

it's funny how you ask us for our input when we know you're still going to do what you want

Echoing zubinsum, I'm sure your team worked hard, and I also understand if you are trying to create a product that is attractive to new customers.  I just think there is probably a better way.

As I posted under the Manager's Office thread, the people who are attracted to this game are those who are interested in the statistics, the match ups, etc.  This is more of a game for the stat heads than people who are looking to be wowed by graphics.  This site is never, never going to compete with other graphics-based games.  And the key here is, it shouldn't try to.

I suggest you look for ways to make this the best game available for the price based on functionality, not visuals.  Yes, graphics have their place, but in this case the focus should be on substance over style.

One suggestion would be to put together a fantastic demo function.  I have personally introduced this site to more than a dozen new users in the past, guys that I know love the game, the history, the stats, etc.  The hardest part of hooking them was just explaining how to use the site effectively.  Having a great demo that emphasizes the strengths of the game, not it's looks, would make a huge difference.  Add testimonials from current users to make it even more compelling.  Such a demo could be a click away off of any number of web pages, vastly improving "the sell" to prospective customers.

Another suggestion would be to create a means to welcome new users in, show them the ropes at a personal level, answer all of their questions quickly and personally, thereby completing the sell once they are here.  I would imagine you have stats on how many customers try out the site but don't stay.  Figure out what the difference would be if you could get a percentage of those to stay.  Also factor in the first idea above that would create more traffic, and I think you'll see this could be worth the expense.

Finally, I'll come back to the common theme amongst virtually all the feedback you've received to date.  Concentrate on functionality and make this the best game available for the type of customers who like this site.  This site is good in many ways, but there are many functional shortcomings that even the graphics-based games are better at.  Take the feedback you are seeing to heart.  These are your loyal customers telling you what is important.  If it is important to your loyal customers, it will be important to the potential customers that might have an interest in this game over the game console and PC graphics-based games, as well as your closer competitors such as SOM, Mogul, etc.
