rookies in open leagues Topic

I don't think teams resemble a "realistic" team now. What teams play 12 players every game? Teams have a smaller rotation and only play more guys because of foul trouble or blowouts.

This.

If people were buying 19.6k minutes, they might look realistic, but people don't.  They buy 16.5k - 17.5k and get away with it because of the rookies.

reality is messy
6/25/2013 6:17 PM
What would be nice is if you could spend your $42 million on 9 players then add the rookies.
6/25/2013 7:45 PM
or just raise the cap to $45m-$47m and do away with rookies.
6/25/2013 7:54 PM
Is it possible to create a $47 million theme league?
6/26/2013 1:11 PM
yes..
6/26/2013 1:13 PM
I just searched the rookies on one of my teams and they turned out to be the 10/11 Reggie Evans, the 07/08 Stromile Swift, and the 74/75 Rick Adelman. Does anyone know why they use real scrubs, but then give them horrible defensive ratings instead of their normal ratings?
6/26/2013 9:27 PM

I don't believe they do that  - Reggie Evans should have a horrible defensive rating - the guy I posted on the first page has 5 rating and is listed in the 50s in his real season

I'd like to present my favorite rookie - not because of performance, but his stellar nom de plume:

2013 Larry Larry

6-7, 220 lbs
Power Forward

ppg 3.1 rpg 2.1 apg 0.4

Perimeter 15%   Midrange 50%   Paint 35%

So far I haven't found an exact match, but 10-11 Ian Mahinmi and 01-02 Cal Bowdler are the matches that look closest to me.

The point is...Larry Larry is the best rookie name in the sim.
