Model Behavior, Jay McInerney

i heard of the guy, so i checked it out. skipped ahead to the short stories. kind of Updike-like. people hanging out, couples meeting couples, people meeting for lunch, people trying to get ahead. only wrinkle i can see is the movie business as subject and source of reference. i trust the actual novel will bore me like old tennis-and-brunch Updike

Has anyone read The Celebrant by Eric Rolfe Greenberg? If so, would you suggest it as good reading material?

Also, I'm going to start reading A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again by David Foster Wallace. I've heard that it is a great, hilarious book.

Just finished The First Fall Classic by Mike Vaccaro. Great wrap up of the 1912 WS between the giants and Red Sox. Adds in the historical and political stuff that happened at the same time. Was fascinated to learn that but for a veto by Ban Johnson, the Kennedys would have owned the Red Sox. Nice easy read.

Reading a bunch of early 19th century Romantic poetry tonight as I prepare a big assignment for my teens. I've been more captivated before, thus the break on the WIS forums!

Per a suggestion by pfattkatt I've just begun Edison and the Electric Chair: A Story of Light and Death by Mark Essig. The history and technology is solid, learning a lot in the early goings about the invention of the light bulb and the challenges that had to be overcome. Best of all it's well written.

Be Our Guest from the Disney Institute. Reading it for a couple presentations I have to do for classes, but it should be a must-read for anyone that works with the public on a regular basis.
