im sorry crickett. But is it really needed to go with that whole nonsense of "he may have fought in Korea, so he gets a pass" I understand people need to be more respectful, but I HATE that garbage. It just perpetuates American Imperialism and helps feed the system which sends our young men oversees to die for some motive which has NOTHING to do with my, yours or anyone elses freedom. To not speak out against that stuff, in my eyes, is both unpatriotic and a travesty. (yes unpatriotic, because a true patriot fights to make his country a better place)

ssandy, lots of things are more realistic.

1.  DLs and not DBs get most of the sacks now.

2.  DBs impact the running game, and make running tackles.

3.  The running game is much closer to real life now.  They need to adjust it just a bit (too many 2 yard gains ... about 15% of them need to be 3-4 yards and about 5% of them need to be randomly higher than 5-6 yards.  Once they make that adjustment, the running game will be quite real.

4.  The fact that DL are involved on screen passes is much more probabilistic.

5.  The fact that you have a situational back for 3rd down is more realistic.  Now if you pass on 3rd down you have a passing back and if you run you have a short yardage back.

6.  You can have cover OLBs and not woory about them shifting to the middle ... you can stick your tackling LBs at ILB.  There will be a rotation (if and when it occurs) that keeps your overall D how you want it.

7.  The PBP is much more informative now.  You can tell who is covering your WR, who made the tackle, who is getting beat on D, etc.  This can allow you to make changes with real info now.  Before, you had no idea who was covering WR1 or WR2 and who got beat in your secondary .. now you do.

I can not believe that people can not see all the advantages that this engine brings in.

Do does it need some tweaks .. sure.  Would I like to set effectiveness for rotating players ... yes.  Would I like to better control the first look receiver ..  yep.  Still the update has major advantages.  One of which is the ability to easily add different formations which have different number of CBs, S, OLBs, ILBs, DEs, DTs in different spots and in different numbers without having to set a depth chart for each new formation.  You can rank your positional players and it can pick 4 DTs, 4 ILBs, and 3 Safeties for a heavy run formation or 2 DTs, 3 OLBs,  and 6 CBs for a heavy pass type formation.  They might even be able to alliow users to design their own formations in the future.  You put them on the field in the proper place and they react based on the position.  I like where this allows the game to go.

I do not claim to be an "elite coach", but I have had several #1 recruiting classes from GUESS at all levels, I have played in NC games (never won one yet), have been in several other final fours, been in Level 5 bowls, etc.  Not the best coaching resume (for sure) and not the worst.  But that does not matter at all.  People who are great coaches get to have their own opinions, so do coaches who suck.

If you like the new game play it, if you don't like it then quit.  How hard is that?

In the meantime, we can all try to be nice to one another on the forums ... no need for personal attacks and such silly a$$hattery.
and lots of things are more unrealisitic.  you keep drinking the kool aide, waiting for when the time comes allowing users to design thier own formations.  WIS didn't do jack sh*t to GD in 2 years.  Once the clamor settles down from this, it'll be another long stretch before it gets anymore development.

btw, who gives a sh*t about how many #1 recruiting classes from GUESS you got.

I keep hearing that some people feel this engine is more realistic than the last engine, I think the problem is a lot of us don't feel it is more realistic than the last engine. Was the prior engine 100% realistic, no it was not, but even once the bugs get worked out of the new engine I feel you replaced some unrealistic aspects with other unrealistic aspects.

We replaced a unrealistic system  with starting different players in different formations to keep their stamina high, with a system that does not allow you to use realistic substitutions and we see defensive players and receivers playing almost 100% of the game. The result is 2 unrealistic engines, but the new one allows for less strategy.

We went from a system that had too many plays at the median level to a system that has too many plays at the extremes.

I just don't see the realism in the new system.
plague,

I agree.  They have replaced an unrealistic engine with one that is also unrealistic.  And as of the "original" release, it had a few flaws that were not cool, and I am not happy with that, and do think we should be compensated and apologized to for that.

Do you remember the first 4-6 seasons, those seasons they changed the engine like 5 times first my run team went to crap, I built a different team in DIA and my pass team that I had worked on became worthless.  They then changed it again.  It happened, and it happened in the middle of seasons then too.  Then during a CC game, they simmed a game three times one morning (it was when they didn't have a half and a final, just the finals).  I felt I lost at least one NC because of that, but it was what it was, and most likely for the better of the game in the long run, at least I thought.

I think you feel the same way.  What we need to know is why is the game going to be better in the long run.  And this is what I feel I have heard about that, first and most importantly, is the new programming language will allow for easier and much more rubust updates going forward.  That was enough for me!  But I know there are more reasons, so lets get productive and figure those things out.

Crickett.  Please show respect for BC.  The right to post a comment like that was earned on the beaches of Grenada.  Or maybe I'm thinking of the Falklands.  No, wait a second.  I was right first time.  Falklands was the right to do position switches which, obviously, has been severly impacted by the Patriot Act.  Don't get me started on that one.  Belichick is such a tool.

I started playing GD around season 8 or 9 of the original worlds. So I missed a lot of the changes in the first 8 worlds.

I don't believe that the new engine is hopeless, right now it looks poor. What is the point of all the new changes if the results is unrealistic. If Fresno St in real life played Boise St 100 times how many times you think Fresno St would win? How about if those 2 teams played in GD in its current state? I would not be surprised in the GD version if Fresno St won half the games, or even if they won more than half the games.

I am quitting most of my teams because of the reward point reduction. The reasons why WIS lowered the reward points does not matter, the only reason I had 11 teams was because of the past reward point system, I can't or won't support 11 teams under the new system. GD will lose a lot of multiple team owners for that reason, and how long will people continue to play in a world that has a large amount of sim teams.

I am sticking with a couple of teams to see how this plays out. I am offering my suggestions in the council and I will give it some time, but the way everything has played out I enjoy talking to you guys on the forum a 1000 times more than I enjoy playing the game. Today I just looked at the final scores, I did not even look at the box score, its been months since I have done that. I figure why gameplan because making decisions based off the last games engine when tomorrow I will probably be using a engine that has tweaks. Then when I look at the results of many games it looks like gameplanning means very little anyway. It is just too chaotic right now.

I hope WIS learns a lesson from this because they are going to lose a lot of customers, and many of those customers are going to be so bitter they will never consider coming back. This all could of been avoided by a open beta test world instead of having us pay to beta test..

We'll have to disagree on all of that.  In your eyes those men died for nothing.  Try talking to men that actually were there.  Any of the vets I've ever talked to feel differently.  What if we would have stopped Hitler when he was just a Brown shirt?  What if we had gone after him before Germany got all powerful?  There would still be people like you thinking it was was wrong to do it. History shows otherwise.  All you people who think Bush did wrong going after Saddam, MAYBE, He nipped something in the bud before it was to late.  Maybe he didn't.  But I for one would rather err on the side of Bush.  The alternative sucked.  If you think Korea and Vietnam had nothing to do with your freedoms you are dead wrong.  They were more like turf wars.  How much did they keep they wolves at bay?  You sound very much like a socialist or communist.  I have a real dislike for that type of government.  Ours isn't perfect but I don't see anything better throughout all of history.

Its really sad when we don't honor those who have answered the call weather or not they believed it was right or wrong. The very act of his answering that call is what makes him a patriot, not the reason he was called. If it wasn't for patriots like that we would not have the things we feel so strongly about. One of which we use on this forum everyday. It gives me the right to stand on a corner and shout my beliefs for all to hear weather right or wrong. It also gives those who disagrees with me the same right. This one little thing has cost our nation more than we can ever pay and it seperates US from the rest of the world. That started because of a tax on tea.

Well, I had no idea the topic would go in this direction but here it goes:  This is the greatest country on the planet.  bc, I agree with you for the most part that any war or conflict since WWII technically had little to do with our personal liberty or freedoms.  However, OUR men (and women) went to those places, giving their government and its' people the ideal that they would put it all all the line, up to and including their lives, to protect the flag and the freedoms and securities it provides whether it was a direct tie to our personal freedoms or not.  They went because our country asked them told (told them to on certain occasions).  So in retrospect, those people over the centuries fought, bled and died to give you the freedom to write what you write and say what you say.  As simple as it sounds ... Love it or leave it.  Pure and simple.  If you think our justices, liberties and freedoms are just for the military industrial complex and corporate businesses to line their pockets in the name of American Imperialism, and you just can't take it, there's a great party country to the North.

Lastly, If any of you reading this have or had an American war soldier or veteran in your family, please give them my heartfelt thanks.  I fully appreciate their service.  Respect the flag.

EDIT:  I did not intend to sound as if I was singling out bcsuperman.  This is how I feel for anyone.

I know that no one wants to hear it but it is the truth, all those men and women did die for nothing but money greed and power. That is why they continue to die now in the middle east. Following the dogma doesnt do anything to stop this. I know its harsh but it is needed. Granted most have truly believed what they were doing was right, and died for that cause they believed in. But didn't the soldier wearing the nazi insignia on the front lines believe that also? Is he to be supported also because of his willingness to sacrifice his life for the greater good of Germany and its citizens? You can't justify supporting our troops in such a way without acknokleging that those German soldiers deserved that same support following that logic. If there were more citizens willing to speak out like this maybe, just maybe, it all couyld of been prevented. And that is what I wish to do. When the root cause is wrong then the whole thing is wrong. The only way to fix it is to change our whole way of viewing the military and its troops. There is nothing noble about what we are doing now, or what we have done for the past 60 years. Eisenhower, a 5 star general, warned us about the dangers of the military industrial complex and he was absolutley right and his warning went unheeded. The only way to stop it is to stand up against it, and if that means i have offended you I am sorry. I truly do not wish to do that.

Grindi, first the fact that you would call me a socialist or a communist is laughable. In no way does preaching against the military industrial complex reveal even a hint of what my economic theories may be. I am very much a capitalist and fan of democratic societies lol. The fact that you would even say that illustrates my point beautifully and shows just how ignorant you are. So quick to label me as an evil socialist because you have nothing else to say. Do you even know what a socialism and communisim are, beyond some vision of Stalin and Castro? You say that im dead wrong if I believe that Korea and Vietnam had nothing to do with my freedoms, well then explain what freedom they gave me exactly? I dont believe you can name a single one. What you may say is that it stopped the spread of communism, well, so what?  Im pretty sure that the NVA over ran Saigon and North Korea is still communist till this day. Im pretty sure that didnt lead to the collapse of capitalism in America and all hell breaking loose on the streets.  Those Soviet wolves didnt get to us, and it had nothing to do with us fighting those wars.

Quietman, my only response to your post is that we must not encourage them to answer that call in the first place. You are wrong in that we would still have the things like these forums even if they didnt enlist to serve in these unjust wars. It is that false belief which allows those wars to be waged. If ever our freedom was truly threatened, such as in WWII, there would most certainly be a draft. But honestly, that day will most likely never come or if it does it will be China who we will have to face and belive me you would certainly need a draft to have the slightest chance of winning that one. And I would support that draft 100% But hey, if WWIII does go off we probably will all be killed in nuclear explosions anyways.

Kapkid, you said "If you think our justices, liberties and freedoms are just for the military industrial complex and corporate businesses to line their pockets in the name of American Imperialism, and you just can't take it, there's a great party country to the North." What does this mean? I dont think our freedoms are just for the military industrial complex. I think our freedoms do exist, and men did fight and die to provide and protect them. However, all that happened previous to the ballooning of our defense budget. Its when people use those freedoms to justify wars that have nothing to do with them do the pockets get lined. We can still have these freedoms without lining those pockets and that is what they do not want you to know. That is why the propaganda exists, to make you believe that if America doesnt buy that new $500 million dollar fighter jet then the Soviets/Saddam/whoeverthenextbadguyis will get us and take away those freedoms which is false.

Why did the Soviet Union build up its military might like it did following WWII? Because Truman decieded to show them how big his d*** was by detonating the worlds most destructive weapon right next door to them, and then doing it again just to prove that they could. That act, which under the definition of terrorisim is the single largets act of terror in human history, put in motion the cold war and created any shred of credibility that exists for the justification of the amount of money which was spent on the military in the years which followed. And the money is the problem, because you cant spend 700 billion dollars on defense and then not get to use any of those cool attack helicopters they just built. You just cant.

Wow, I apologize for the length of this and if you have read the whole thing then I thank you. I guess after 1000 words it can be described as a bit of a rant, but if it caused one person to view things in a new light then it was worth it. I am thankfully done now lol.
