Now for those of you following along at home, I think you have an idea of what happens next.
After these emails, and
aftersignings, what account magically appears---nelsonba25 at ND. USC falls off the day of signings and ND eventually signs the OL on Day 5 of recruiting.
Here are the many things that stand out.
First, ND (the nelsonba25 account) was
real close in distance to the OL recuit---less than 180 miles. What does that mean? He had a bigger distance---and scholarship advantage----then DePaul. And he had an even bigger distance advantage over USC then I did. It would also only cost him about $800 bucks for a CV and, more importantly, $140 bucks or so to send an AC scout visit to this recruit.
Second, the nelsonba25 account, scouts the area deeply---and well. Having recruited in the same area for several seasons, I have seen ND "green" many players that are, currently, DIAA at best (at an elite, this will happen with just an AC visit). The idea being, find the "growers" not the "show-ers" [potential---not ***** size]. I think many others would add to the recruiting prowess of the nelsonba25 account.
Taken all these things together, it raises many questions. If the mcbethbr account "tipped off" the nelsonba25 account about the "sky's the limit recruit" after signings as his sitemail to me would have you believe, then this would mean nelsonba25 never scouted Galvan. Mmmmmmh. It would have only cost $140 for an AC visit to a top #35 recruit within 180 miles of his school that was considering an elite (USC) that is 2000+ miles from the recruit. This wouldn't peak nelsonba25's interest enough to at least send an AC scout to see if he was missing out on something good?
Also, if the nelsonba25 account didn't scout Galvan, it means that account was provided with critical recruiting information from another account (mcbethbr) that benefited nelsonba25.
If the nelsonba25 account did scout Galvan---and, thus, knew about the "sky's the limit potential"---why wait until after signings, and after the mcbethbr account sitemail to me, to begin recruiting him. If nelsonba25 wants the recruit, has the advantages and has the cash, why wait until USC feels they are f#cked and will not land the recruit before jumping in. Really strange that ND would wait until USC gives him a green light before going after a "sky's the limit" recruit in his backyard.
Also, why would the mcbethbr account care who gets the recruit if the recruit doesn't sign with USC? Why is it better that he sign with ND rather than DePaul? I have no history with mcbethbr. No nasty sitemails. Nada. Not even in response to his site mails in this case. Moreover, we are competing for a recruit in my backyard so it shouldn't be too shocking that I would go after the recruit---and that USC would lose that battle. But despite all that, when it becomes clear to the mcbethbr account that USC will not get the recruit---he steers the recruit to the nelsonba25 account at ND? Gift wrapping a recruit for another elite? No connection there, mmmmmmmh.
