I might even start playing again.
Don't say that, they'll pull the plug!
I miss you too, booger!!

If the player was playing out of position would the fielding show D- D -? or nothing at all.

I'd like to set individual base-running aggressiveness

I'd like to see how individual hitters do against individual pitchers in progressives, season & career
Setting individual base-running aggressiveness would be a VERY good step. I've always hated the fact that b.r.a. (couldn't resist) has always been a team concept and not an individual one.

Keep up the good work!

Yes!  Let's have individual base running aggressiveness!

Also, I'd like to see batter splits (vs. LHP & vs. RHP) without having to go to baseball-reference.com each time I'm putting a team together

One more thing - maybe it's no big deal, but when looking for a backup positional player, it would be nice to have a search function for Fielding Ratings ... if I want to find an A/A fielder, etc.

Make mine another vote for individual base running aggressiveness settings. I would trade all of the pretty graphics for that one feature.

If we're talking about improvements, for Progressive Leagues, how about having an option for the commissioner to setup a search page where players already taken in a season are disabled (or greyed out, or not listed). Right now the commissioner has to post names of players taken in a forum and it's a nightmare and time consuming to go back-n-forth trying to figure out who is available and what his stats are.... :)

Love this game, though! :)

I would really also like an expanded notes/comments section.  Sometimes I will decided on a certain strategy or approach, and do some work, and perhaps want to store my thoughts with that team or player(s), and then later when I come back to that team, my idea's are lost (I know it is a function of me being old), but to store that information together with the team or player would be great.

I agree with this.  I only play progressives, and I've often thought about starting one.  But I don't have the time to go through rosters and remove the keepers, and create a list of available players.

So, maybe a keeper function for progressive leagues, too.

Any way to add a drag and drop option for batting orders and rotations? For example, if I wanted to move my #8 hitter up to the #2 spot, I would just drag and drop his name in between the current #1 and #2 -- the rest of the lineup would then conform to that new order.

You can already search for both fielding and range.

Also, why would you want to see actual platoon splits - these are not used in the SIM algorithm.  How a player actually hit vs LHP and RHP doesn't matter.

I was also going to mention that you can already search for players by fielding and range, but the platoon splits question brings up something I've always thought was a problem within the game. The right-handed vs. left-handed issue needs to be addressed, and is a huge problem with realism. Something should be written into the game code that accounts for how well a lefty hitter fares vs. righty pitchers and how well he fares vs. lefty pitchers and so on. Right now it doesn't matter if you use a lefty or a righty on either side of the ball. I've always wondered why they have the RH and LH SPECIALIST pitching positions when the hand with which they throw has no bearing on the outcome of a plate appearance. I've always thought that this was a major flaw and would prefer to see issues such as this, which have an effect on "realism", addressed rather than a graphics makeover.

The batter gets a bonus when hitting against a pitcher of the opposite arm.
3/17/2012 6:51 PM
Yes - trentonjoe is correct.  I apologize if I gave the impression that platoon advantage doesn't matter.  It certainly does.  But the effect is the same for every player and every pitcher.  Their actual platoon splits don't matter at all.

Frankly I much prefer it that way.  Real life platoon splits are subject to massive fluctuations due to nothing more than random chance and small sample sizes.  Basing simulated performance on them is, in my opinion, not a good idea.  One of the many reasons I preferred APBA over SOM as a kid...

Can somebody tell me exactly what the "bonus" is for a hitter when he hits against a pitcher of the opposite arm? I honestly never knew that it existed.
