Wider Rotation and Platoon League part 2 - the search for more players: MLB101175
The second season, based on a lot of learning experiences and a great debate about how to improve on the first season.
24 - team standard 4/4/4 - one random realignment.
The first season was $105 mil with a cash influx and a whole slew of restrictions to guarantee that owners had to use all their players and pitchers.
This time, we are going for parsimony - simplicity will rule and get us, hopefully a better version of our original objective without so many hoops to jump though:
It will be:
$70 million salary cap, no cash infusion later.
All position players must have a minimum of 100 PA/162 and a maximum of 500/162. No player with more than 40 SB. NO OTHER RESTRICTIONS
All pitchers must have a minimum of 60 IP/162 and a maximum of 220 IP/162. .No pitcher with a HR/9 under 0.25. NO OTHER RESTRICTIONS
You pick 6/2 average AAA, BUT you may not bring any AAA player up until game 110 (2/3 of the way through the season) and then may not have more than 4 AAA on your major league roster in a maximum of 3/1 or 2/2 configuration, not 4/0.
Since you must send down a player who played 110 games in order to make room for the AAA player you bring up, at the transaction deadline after game 120 your ML roster is permanent. So choose wisely both in drafting AAA players and pitchers and in who you decide to bring up out of the 6/2 and who you leave down in AAA limbo for the duration and playoffs.
This is intended to maximize challenges of drafting, managing your roster well, using minor league players more or less as RL baseball teams do - not filling a whole bench with them, but bringing some players up near the end of the season (but at game 110 early enough that might help get you back in contention for the stretch run) who can help and in limited numbers - 2 or 3 position players who in any case are likely to have to platoon with those you already had or with each other, and 1-2 pitchers (always keeping to the max AAA of 4 total) who can help out when your original staff shows fatigue.
As before, trades are ok, WW is okay but players must adhere to the limitations listed above, no DH, no clones. Each stadium unique. I will wait for at least a few others to post here that they are interested before I pick a stadium.
Remember, no individual salary caps this time, only the overall $70 million.
