Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na
Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na

Autumn turns to winter,
And winter turns to spring.
It doesn't go just for seasons you know,
It goes for everything.

The same is true for voices,
When boys begin to grow.
You gotta take a lesson from Mother Nature,
And if you do you'll know.

When it's time to change, then its time to change
Don't fight the tide, come along for the ride, don't you see
When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange
who you are into what you're gonna be.
Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na
Sha na na na, na na na na na, sha na na na na

Day by day, it's hard to see the changes you've been through
A little bit of living, a little bit of growing all adds up to you
Every boy's a man inside, a girl's a woman too
And if you wanna reach your destiny, here's what you've got to do

Autumn turns to winter,
And winter turns to spring.
It doesn't go just for seasons you know,
It goes for everything.

The same is true for voices,
When boys begin to grow.
You gotta take a lesson from Mother Nature,
And if you do you'll know.

So here the Phils are 66games in, 31-35 - 9 1/2 out of 1st - 5g out of the WC.

Ok, Supernatural re-run over, JOBSTUFF drama over for now and am drinking and typing as you view.......

Anyhoo, pretty loaded (Sam Adams), but even I must admit 2012 is a lost campaign? 9.5 out of 1st and 6 out of the WC.

What I want is a retool, not a rebuild.
So what are realistic options for the Phils to do that?

6/16/2012 4:41 PM (edited)

What I would like to see happen is a re-manage  of the roster based on realistic returns?

Hamels........gone. He has pitched himself out of Amaro's budget, espicially w/ the recent Cain signing.
Victorino.....gone. His current skill set is near elite and should garner a 3yr 35$ contract at least, out of Amaro's price range. Shane's age and recent signings put him out of the Phillies plans? That sucks.

Both players would be tricky to trade...... But hese are the Phillies 2 biggest realistic chips. They have decent pitching in the minors (let's rush Trevor May) and a last chancer in Dom Brown who is now playing CF in AAA.

So who lands where and for whom?

Caveat, if anyone wants to suggest a Rollins deal feel free.....

What I want is a "pass" for 2012.

Halladay, Lee, Worley, a free agent signing and May round out the rotation in 2013.
Paps, Bastardo, Diekman, Aumont and Stutes(both healthy), Kendrick and a LOOGY round out the staff.

The offense is ALOT trickier.

Galvis is done for the year.
Utley is due back 7/1
Howard is due back 8/1
Nix is due back 7/1

The above 3 change the O drastically) and allow Cholly (who I never liked) to manage....

Ok, still enjoying Sam Adams.... And due to work sched won't be back until late Sat nite...
 The outlook is not rosey.

The franchise needs alot, but IMO this may be do-able....
Let's find some decent options.........scenerios........?

6/16/2012 12:18 AM
So the OF becomes Pierre in LF, Dom Brown and Mayberry in CF, Pence in RF with Nix filling in
Polanco and Rollins on the left side are still great defenders and offer little offensively, Utley and Mini Mart would be a really weird 2B tandem- until Utley shos what he can do, 2B is a black hole. Galvis was doing pretty well. Howard and Wiggy would share first.  With Chooch straining an oblique tonight, there is no catcher.
But assuming he can play,
It's Pierre, Chooch,Utley,Howard,Pence,Brown,Wiggy,J-Roll and the pitcher...(J-Roll should bat 8th but he would mope and never run out a ground ball ever again)
So...its J-Roll,Pierre,Utley,Howard,Pence,Brown,Wiggy,Chooch and the pitcher w Polanco and Martinez coming in for defense as soon as possible...
Halladay, Lee,Worley, Blanton and Kendrick round out the rotation with Hamels going to the highest bidder in July for a couple of top prospects...
I could see that team making a WC spot- but it would be tough unless everybody came back from the DL and were able to play at a high level.
I'm too tired to think about the bullpen...

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.

Ooooh, ok good answer. But was looking for trade scenerios etc as I live in Chicago now and sports talk radio all over the country is a good source for rumors etal...

But thanks for the 8sec response....

And feams, thank you. I knew you'd pop in as a few more diehards will. Just frustrated w/ this whole campaign. Almost like an albatross hit the mast of the HMS Phillies...

I would imagine that the Phils would be sellers and there should be a few new teams thinking they have a shot at a WC spot...I cant see them signing Cole which is strange, but he's gonna get 30 mil/year from  the Dodgers...I have season tix and the next game is Tuesday vs. Colorado...cant sell them so I guess I'll go.
The recent highlight has been Thome and his hot streak...other than that its been a bad boring stretch of baseball...
6/16/2012 11:04 PM
Agreed........Cole's gonna get megabucks... But w/ Halladay, Lee and Worley already in the fold for 2013 AND a revamped O, things will be (possibly/probably) better next year.
If/when Cole and Shane are traded the picks back may include some major league ready talent.......?

My caveat is that Dom Brown is handed the starting CF job by AmaroCO and told, "Here, you and Boras figure it out......2013 is your proving ground."
Brown was below average in LF and RF, but has been exceeding expectations in CF.

Weird how Cole and Utley are Cali guys and Philly gave Utley the keys to the city and shunned Hamels?
Either way, whatever, Hamels is a less than 0% to resign...... Call it ego, Cali native, $, whatever, but his days in red stripes should be limited.......
Shane WANTS to stay a Philly, but it will come down to Pence or Victorino and Hunter WILL get a deal and stay in Philly.......

Again, if someone could propose a possible Rollins deal? We'll listen. ....The alternative is firing Cholly? Then the new mgr could slot Rollins in the 2, 6, 7 OR 8 hole and not get sh!t......
6/16/2012 11:15 PM
And after 75hrs at work last week, the yearly inventory was due (yes I retarded to retail after my marriage went south -so much for my 1st year at W.H. Richardson Law at UH....) I am imbibing copious amounts of alcohol.....
The inventory went very well AND I had a VERY good ASM interview, so life  -may- get back to "normal" in 3 weeks...

But for now I am an overworked / underpaid retail slave (insert random joke here) so I do enjoy few things.....

But sh!t, these Phillies are giving me more grey hair..... That is my ex's job?

So let's trade some talent in 2012 for 2013........
6/17/2012 1:39 PM
Is it the right time of the year to talk about a Howard/Pujols trade, or am I confusing that with a different time of year?
