Can't believe that one. Me east new Mexico team was the last team in and pulls out a win. I thought my team was better then what they played all year.

like i said, as long as we don't go to overtime we'll be fine.  6 losses this year...5 by less than 5...and 4 in OT.  This was the best team I've had since the National Championship team and we are out in the first freakin round.

i'll NEVER understand how we committed so many more  fouls in that game playing a zone with great IQ's against a team playing the press, and of course the WIS gods had us suck from the free throw line when we did get there in spite of shooting about 75% there from the season.

Oh well guys the Yarnell has been fun.  Guess you get someone else in there now.

speaking of Yarnell, hard to believe that Bowie St, Incarnate Word and my Harding are still playing while you, Longwood, and Bellarmine are done. If you count what Incarnate Word is doing as *still playing*.

Add to that it sucked that you had to face fellow Yarnell Alum Bowie St in round 1.

the sucky thing is that we have a few down seasons coming up due to 2 nightmare recruiting seasons in a row. I was hoping that this was a season for a championship run. We just got a tough 16 seed, and the WIS gods frowned upon us. Good job, jason - didn't think a FCP team could beat us.

Ouch.  The truth hurts.

We were hoping to play the role of E New Mexico, but managed a #2 seed.....in the PT.  Worst year at the Word in 20 seasons, lowest RPIs since my first two seasons at IW, despite having one of my better teams "on paper."  That's what happens when you try to run FBP/Press without the right players.  My soph class is ill-suited for it and the freshmen might not be either.

Kick me while I'm down, we'll be back.  We're switching to triangle, first time I've ever switched offenses at a program.  Good luck to all those still alive in the "Real" tournament, even you hacker.

dave, I've swtiched offenses before and I can be rough.  It usually knocks you down for 2 seasons, but by the tourney of season 2 you are back to full strength.  Now hopefully you can win the PIT and pull in some more recruiting money for your fellow Heartland coaches!

St. Mary's TX has a tough round 2 draw in the NT against a team that can shoot lights out from deep.  I'm hoping we can get by them, but this will take a litlte luck.  We may need this 2nd round win to keep our A+ prestige.

2nd night in a row playing a Top 10 opponent. Made more FGs than him 22-21. Problem was 9 of his 21 FGs were of the 3PFG variety and only 3 of mine were. To top that off, he nailed 16-22 FTs to my 10-12.

This was a fun team to coach and my goal was Sweet 16 and fell just one game short. I had no elite scorers, 2 decent scorers, and 3 role-playing scorers. The rest of my team couldn't throw it in the ocean. But we could play defense and rebound. I had to turn those 2 decent scorers into 18 and 15 PPG game type players and that was tough. My 1st round NT opponent averaged over 80 PPG and lost only twice. We held him to 48 and beat him. My 2nd round opponent... same thing... 80+ PPGer. We held him to 67 and was down 5 with less than 2 min left. Just couldn't score.

Fun year.

Both 15 and 16 are still alive in the Midwest. Has a 15 or 16-seed ever made the Final Four in HD at any level?

Don't jinx it.

I believe a #16 seed has made the final, but I don't remember if they won.  It was a long time ago, before they decreased the variances.

In DIII Naismith, season 45 (we're now in #60), I won the NT as  a 15-12 , #15 seed.

My run is over after a game that I had the lead right to the last few seconds. Oh well, didn't expect to get this far.
