Start with any team in history (except for the 1917 Giants) and include at least 20 players from that team and year on your final roster. All other teams/years from 1885-2011 are potentially eligible, however, some teams will not be useable because they had fewer than 20 players on their original roster. Up to 5 players on your team may come from other teams from that same year.
As long as a player is identified as being from your chosen team, he qualifies even if he was traded during the year and his stats are combined from more than one team. For example, if you choose the 1964 Cardinals, you may use either the version of Lou Brock using only his Cardinal stats or his combined Cardinal/Cub stats. However, if you choose to use the version with only his Cub stats, he would not qualify as one of your 20 original roster players.
Also, even though the 1917 Giants are blacklisted due to their relative dominance in past seasons, individual players from that team are eligible. Therefore, if you choose the 1917 White Sox for example, you could use up to 5 players from any of the other 1917 teams, including 1 or more Giants.
