As we begin the playoffs in season 24, we look to have four openings for the upcoming season. Below are the teams and a brief description of each:
Seattle Pilots - NL North - Surprised this team is available. 93 wins and a division title and they are on the upswing after a rebuilding stretch. Tons of young talent, all of the top players are in their 20's. Can't imagine this team will be available for long.
San Antonio Missions - NL South - Will have the top pick in next year's draft. This team was on a serious run of mediocrity prior to bottoming out last year with 106 losses. They play in a very winnable division, so a quick turnaround could place them into contention.
New York Water Dogs - AL East - This team will have the 2nd pick in the draft next season, after dropping 104 games. This is the 4th straight 90-loss campaign for this team, so there should be some solid developing talent in the system to build upon.
Syracuse Jailbreakers - AL East - Perhaps more surprising than the talented Seattle squad's availability is seeing the long time owner of this franchise bid the league farewell. Owned by the same person for the entire history of the world, Syracuse is now looking for new ownership. A storied history includes two world series crowns and numerous division titles. Coming off a run of success, this team played around .500 this season and you could go either way next year.
