"An" Historical Coaching Perspective: Past, Present, and Future
First four seasons at Hendrix:
Season 47: 4-24
Season 48: 20-9 Regular Season Conference Champs
Season 49: 25-6 Regular Season Conference Champs, National Tournament Berth
Season 50: 29-4 Regular Season Conference Champs, National Tournament Berth
- It was interesting watching my first recruiting class develop into great players:
The three players listed above are now listed 1,2, and 3 in scoring leaders at Hendrix. Had they not all been so good, one of these guys could have cleared 2,000 I would assume.
In Season 50, we averaged 97.8 points a game, once scored 141, and made it to The Elite Eight. There's room to get better, but matching this team will be tough to do.
In the off-season, I looked at two D2 schools to transfer to: Eastern New Mexico State and University of South Dakota. Ultimately, I decided to pass on both, and give my full attention to Hendrix for a few more runs. We haven't won the Conference Tournament yet, haven't beaten Southwestern, and it'd be nice to get into The Final Four.
It seems as though my desire to not coach in the Northeast and Midwest will continue on in to D2. Looking at the D3 map (
