Exactly 100 times in major league history has a pitcher thrown at least 200 innings while averaging at least one strikeout per inning.  

On 9 occasions, these pitchers finished with a record below .500.  Most of you will have guessed that Nolan Ryan was one of these pitchers -- in fact, he did it 3 times (1976, 1978, 1987).  

Who are the 6 other pitchers who managed this rare feat?

Randy Johnson is one of them -- 241 K in 210 IP back in 1992.  Good enough for a 12-14 record.

McDowell never did it, but came close in 1968 -- 283 K in 269 IP, finished 15-14.

Javier Vazquez and Felix Hernandez have come close a couple of times.

Roger Clemens in 1996 went 10-13 with 257 K in 243 IP

Ben Sheets in 2004 went 12-14 with 264 K in 237 IP

Jake Peavy in 2006 went 11-14 with 215 K in 202 IP

Tim Lincenum in 2011 went 13-14 with 220 K in 217 IP
