Any luck doing so after the 6/26 changes?

I redshirted two sophomores on two different teams and one was successful and the other was not. He was mad and is WE went way down.

yes, 1 for 1.  He was definitely one of the bottom few on the team talent-wise, so it seemed reasonable that he took it.

Good to know.  Thanks, this helps.

No luck at all. I redshirted a player every season under the old system. Under the old system I redshirted Sophmores. Under the new system, I've had 3 crashes.
One was a freshman. the lowest rated player on the team. The other two were both Sophomores. They were the two lowest rated bigs on the team on which there is a surplus of bigs. The players rated under them were 1 Forward who was redshirted last season under the old system and guards on a guard short team with only 1 senior guard. I couldn't afford to RS a guard.  So, I was unable to RS on either team.

CV, that's weird about the freshman.  About how many WE points did he drop when you tried?
7/25/2012 9:15 PM
Jack, he was a 45 WE and dropped about 20 - 25 points. Somewhere in there. I don't remeber exactly.

It worked for me the one time I have tried to RS a SO. Another team, a FR refused his and it would have dropped his WE from a 99 to a 9. So it's not much different from my experiences so far

Course, with 99 WE, you can probably bench him the whole year and he'll still gain 100 points.

Tried it for the first time this season and he was ok with it. I also had the "redshirt" talk with him when I recruited with him. I ended up bringing on 2 last season that were RS candidates so I did the other one first.

Yeah, you can still do it. I too am 1 for 2 on sophs accepting.

This question is a product of slight paranoia because I've never tried to RS a sophmore and now that the rules have changed I don't want to take any chances. So, if I apply a RS to a sophmore and he has a negative reaction that coincides with a large reduction in WE will the WE return to normal once it is withdrawn?

I know this question might appear silly, but a good dose of paranoia can be helpful from time to time, haha.

Yes it will... it's just that if you take it off/try to re-apply you will get the same reaction from him (same WE drop)
