i was wondering what the prestige vs recruiting effort scale would look like.

for example if:
A+ had a range of 100 - 95
A   had a range of 94 - 90
A-  had a range of  89 - 85

B+ had a range of 84 - 80
B  had a range of  79 - 75
B- had a range of 74 - 70

etc.....

so according to this scale an A+ team would have up to a 30% advantage over a B-

I know this scale is wrong but could someone give me an idea of what they think would be close?

does anybody have any ideas?

Supposedly at D1 it is around a 1.7x multiplier for each full grade. At D2 and D3 prestige barely matters.

I think the only difference at DII and DIII is which recruits will talk to you.  Once you get the go ahead to recruit a player its virtually a level playing field.

so if the 1.7 multiplier is used:

100   A+
86.2  A
72.5  A-

58.8  B+
50.7  B
42.6  B-

34.6  C+
29.8  C
25.0  C-

20.3  D+
17.5  D
14.7  D-

so if a C- and an A+ battle for a player the C- has to spend 4 times as much?     WOW,  even the B having to spend twice as much to beat an A+ seems flawed to me.  these numbers seem like they would REALLY deter the ability for a team to be built up like we're able to do in GD

Seems pretty realistic to me.

the C- vs the A+ does seem OK but the B vs A+ seem like much.   I would think of it in purdue vs indiana terms,  yes indy will get most of the hoosier staters but purdue has a great following too and i would think it wouldnt in real world cost be double?  but maybe Im thinking of this in the wrong way

there is definitely some dissent about the value of prestige, i believe its less than 1.7x.

here's a chart for varying multipliers.
assuming the prestige is a straight line value.  ie.. a B to A is the same as a D to a C.

B v. A+ wouldn't be Indiana v. Purdue in the WIS world.  In Phelan D1, there are 15 A+, 6 A, 13 A, 4 B+, 14 B. Purdue by no means is a top tier program, but I would be hard pressed to say they are in the tier of 38-52 ranked team in NCAA.

That seems like a lot of a+'s.... I thought there'd be maybe 8-10 schools in that range. Jmo

Similar numbers in Knight - 15 A+, 5 A, 12 A-, 8 B+, 17 B. The Purdue program is B-.

I don't think allmatt is talking about purdue's prestige in WIS, but the distance between a program like Purdue to a program like Indiana in the real world. A program like Purdue under the WIS system would be more like a high B+ to A- range. With Indiana at A+, the edge would be between 30-60%, a big advantage to Indiana/A+ program but can be overcome by Purdue/the B+ A- program.
