I realize this isn't the right forum, but because it is happening in a live league, i figured i'd get the opinions of the live community.

So, i have 2 teams in the USA Baseball Federation, neither of which has any deadball starters.  My 1 teams stats look like this.

In 9 games:
Vince Coleman(C-/C-) 5 errors in sim he had 9 in real life
Lance Johnson(C/A-) 5 errors in sim he had 12 in real life
Willie Wilson(B/A) 5 errors in sim he had 6 in real life
Jose Reyes(B-/B-) 4 errors in sim he had 18 in real life

Now, maybe those numbers don't wow you, it is only 9 games, but still awfully high.

Here is team 2.

In 6 games:
Bing Miller(B/B-)11 errors in sim he had 8 in real life
Ted Williams(C/D-) 7 errors in sim he had 5 in real life
Babe Ruth(A/C-)7 errors in sim he had 1 in real life

I sent in a ticket to sitestaff who told me everything was running ok and it was just bad luck.  I have played 1 game since their response and in that game, made 10 errors.  4 by Bing Miller, 5 by Ted Williams and 1 by Babe Ruth.  It appears other teams in the leagye are seeing some high error totals, but nothing like 28 in 9 games and 30 in 6 games.  I don't plan to play anymore games until support really looks into this.  I realize this is a game and a small sample size, but there is no way this is just bad luck.

10 errors certainly doesn't sound right.  Something must be going on with that team's normalization.
3/12/2013 7:23 PM
Like for some reason it's treating your pitchers as if they had league fielding percentages of 0, for example...
3/13/2013 12:24 AM
1985 willie mcgee had FIVE ERRORS in one game against me..yeah against me..that is just absolutely insane
3/13/2013 3:00 AM
I think there's something wrong. Have seen five plus bunches of times lately and three by Tim Raines in one game...that team had seven in the game. It's been a topic of conversation in my last three games.
3/13/2013 3:00 AM
I dont thik 7 errors in 6 games for an A outfielder is bad luck.  Bad luck is him having 7 errors all season.
3/13/2013 3:02 AM
Check out the error totals for US fed. 15 teams have more errors than games...those that don't mostly have very few games played.
3/13/2013 4:29 AM
ive found that when a pitcher has a very good ERA,there seems to be alot of errors behind him. Maybe its to balance out his earned runs vs runs against. And it seems a trend that when one of those pitchers allows a runner on due to an error, they score and sometimes in bunches especially with 2 outs
3/13/2013 12:11 PM
verynice, that could be true but is not necessarily relevant here. I just went through a whole bunch of research and errors are up across the league compared to previous seasons of the same league, which presumably would have very similar pitching staffs league-wide. The problem isn't that we are getting more errors than we'd think we should, but that we are getting more errors than the same players have gotten in the past behind similar pitching staffs. Check the SimLeague Baseball forum for more data.

My guess is that a 1/11/13 fix made to correct an error in outfield fielding was never applied to the Live engine. But whatever it is, players making 15-20 times as many errors as they have historically made in the same league is not small sample size or random variation. Either of those would tend to result in similar numbers of increases and decreases, but the research I did shows an overwhelming tendency toward increased errors. Some of the players I checked have 9 or 10 seasons in the league, so the historical data should be accurate.

We should probably stick to the other forum, rather than post some information here while others are posting there.

I've sent a ticket in asking for a response beyond sample size/random variation, and to at least confirm that the 1/11 fix was applied to Live.

yep, the last fix was an admitted error they had after the last update with OF errors.  It was a typo in the coding.  This sounds EXACTLY the same.

All - we have rebooted our LIVE service this morning. Based on the data above and some info in the server logs, it does appear the 1/11/2013 update did not take properly.

Thank you to those above that gathered the info to bring this issue to light.
