The Talkin' Baseball progressive league is heading into its 24th season. The league was founded in 1950, and we are looking for one owner to join us starting in the 1973 season. This is the first opening that we have had to advertise since just before the 1968 season started.
The team available was a 1969 expansion team that went through the typical expansion growing pains. The worst is definitely over for this franchise and they could soon come of age with the right owner. The lineup includes Carlton Fisk AND Ted Simmons. What a great spot to be in! Use them both or trade one for things that you need, your decision! Building a starting pitching staff will probably be your biggest current challenge, but you are going to have one heck of a bullpen with Rollie Fingers, Ken Forsch, and Skip Lockwood in the coming seasons. You will have a reasonable amount of plate appearances and innings pitched to start with. We'd like an owner who is looking to stay with us for the long term. To be more precise, we are requesting at minimum a 6 season commitment from you. We'll call it a gentlemen's agreement. Progressive league vets and non-experienced owners looking to join/learn a progressive league are both welcome in this league. If you aren't willing or interested in playing with us for at least 6 seasons, we do thank you for looking here but you aren't what we are looking for.
As of this post, we are just starting to draft OFF the clock. We will slow play the draft until we go on the clock, which isn't until Monday, July 7th. We are currently 126 games into the 1972 season. This team has drawn the 10th pick in the first round. After the first round, this team will have the 9th pick in each remaining round. Taking this team now will allow you to participate in the draft, but also know that you won't be playing games until the 1973 season starts, which will probably be around mid-July.
The roster for the available team is at the bottom of this thread. This team is currently in New York (American League). You can choose to play your home games in one of the following cities: New York (AL), Kansas City, or Texas.
