I can see that the deep passing game has already been cut down.  Cutting down on all deep passing regardless of quarterback ratings is foolish.  Every adjustment, every correction, every countermove should be BASED ON PLAYER RATINGS!!!  I still have horrible quarterbacks completing 75-80% against me.  That is the real problem.  For months and months now we're straining, struggling, waiting, hoping, and wishing to get to a place where version 2.0 has been for years!!!  It does not make sense.  If It has taken this long to try to get where 2.0 is RIGHT NOW, how can this ever be better than 2.0?  I love the fact that in 2.0, with a great defense, you can hold a team to less than 50% completions and no touchdowns in a game.  Whoever is in charge of this, please leave 2.0 and 3.0 available as options when and if this version gets finished.  I think 2.0 is great.  I think 3.0 in the long run will eventually kill this game.  Just one man's opinion.

As good as you think 2.0 is, you have a lot more that dislike 2.0 greatly.  When 2.0 was put in and 1.0 was removed, a lot of us wanted 1.0 back.  In 1.0, most games you knew who was going to win based on ratings.  In 2.0, it is a crap shoot sometimes reguardless of ratings.  The hope was that 3.0 went back to be more ratings based and less about a flip of the coin.

Fooled you, didn't it?

I dislike 2.0.  If 2.0 is the future, I don't see myself playing much longer.  I have no problem with offering both games, but the push to revert to 2.0 and abandon 3.0 altogether is a mistake.

Why? Because if 2.0 is all there is I won't be sticking around much longer, and I'm not alone. I'm even doing well in 2.0 (13th best winning percentage in dobie all time atm) What I wish we could do, is start with 2.0 with the new control features and see what that does, then tweak from there.

You do realize that the opposite holds true as well.  I know we're not even close to the finished product, and unless it gets light years better V3 will be just as empty and have just as many complaints.  Why not leave V2 as is (make a few tweaks) and add V3 advanced only?  This way those that want to know where the DB is at, what % of the play is going to where, who's talking to the cheerleader, etc... can have   their cake and eat it to.  It sounds as though most wouldnt mind that option, and it has been suggested before, yet we dont hear anything on that from any of the big shots.

If we all brought up that a players shoe size or length of shoestring affected the play, then we would hear oriole say "I've decreased the size/length by a multiplying factor of pie.  Post any abnormalities that you find and I'll look into them."  I agree with most that V2 is not perfect, but it is better than V3, regardless where V3 is at in its development/testing.  Thats strickly my opinion and that doesnt mean that its wrong, just how i feel.  I'll help out with the testing and in all honesty will have the same points to bring up as everybody else.

I feel conceptually v3 is superior to v2 and that it is not even close. I wish we had started with v2 with the new features and built from there, but I'm not a developer. It is just how I feel, and how many have felt apparently because the population of worlds (in all games I might add) have dramatically been reduced since I first started playing. You can't have two completely different games..it will kill both games. Its kind of like a band that has too much musical diversity inside of one album. It has no direction and very few of the general public will latch onto it regardless of the talent of the band. V2 gives you little control and little immersive quality required to keep people interested in the game past checking scores. I don't pay for a game where I just check scores, or I won't anymore without promise of more to come.

That may be true for the advanced, and I have no desire to play that version. We have two games right now and the more choices you offer the more customers u can attract. So Pepsi should quit making Mountain Dew, a casino with 500 slot machines should get rid of all their machines except the top 10% highest coin in ones, and every artist should only write/perform what the masses like. Those individuals that are not for keeping bot versions up are more concerned with their interest rather than that of what's best for the game.

As I have said before show me a box score from v2 on why a team won or lost, and I'll tell u why. The programmers aren't giving us enough credit. Yeah they could have copied v2 and tested that, but the we would be much stronger, because the teams r mostly ours. We're going to keep telling them what we want/what the game needs and they're going to come on and say tweaked this or changed that. And it will never end.

I think the majority of coaches wanted a fresh start on version 3.  THe initial enthusiasm would not have been the same if they brought out version 2 with new bells and whistles.  Many of us wanted a new engine where ratings mattered.  Version 2 is flawed.  You can like it, and I don't have any objections to WIS keeping version 2 around and agree it may be a good idea, but again, it would be a big mistake to give up on version 3 and revert to version 2.  Many coaches would quit the game altogether.

Version 3 is a pile of crap right now.  I don't think anyone is disputing that.  However, that doesn't mean we should throw in the towel.

So, you are saying that version 2 could not be modified to make ratings matter? IF so, then whatever..it was better to start from scratch I guess. I just have a hard time seeing things as being impossible that is not specifically said is not possible. Particularly, in the case of realistic scores where talent matters where I have seen it actually happen in a text based game.

You really wouldn't like 2.0 if you played 1.0. Version 3.0's set up is more like 1.0, but the game sim is really bad right now. When (if) they can get the simulation right, 3.0 should be much better than 2.0.

I did play 1.0. I got absolutely destroyed in every game I played. I got jaded by the experience and didn't play again until right before the beta started. When I talk about getting beat 120-0 being a detriment to attracting new players I speak from experience. If we fix the sim, and don't touch the recruit generation..I fear that many will be jaded by it, and I will get bored with it. I'm doing well at Bridgewater. Learning a bit more about 2.0 every season. It is stale. It lacks any sort of immersion into the individual players. The statistics are inflated. I'm slowly getting bored the more I learn about getting better at the game. I want to continue playing at whatifsports, but HD is completely done for me after I'm done with my final season there. GD has a chance to keep me, only because of the possibility of 3.0. IF 3.0 comes out, it gets applied to the pay worlds, and instantly the bad teams lose 120-0 with no change in how recruits are generated (which is actually HD's strongest point) then I won't continue. Its boring. Its not a good business model, and I want to have this game to play and for the site to thrive. I was never a GD player, I was an HD player for the majority of my time here. Mainly because when I first started I enjoyed HD and detested GD. Mainly because it didn't matter what I did I was behind the 8 ball from the start and the only teams available were the terrible teams that there was no way to improve. Maybe I could have if I wanted to spend 100 bucks to win 4 games but trust me very few people are willing to do that.

I had hoped that V3 would allow me to put my best players in the formation that fits them, without having to be in the advanced settings.  The advanced settings are to much for my taste, so I have no idea all of there in and outs.  If they can get the basic to be that of V2 then I will be happy.  however I still strongly believe that those of us that choose to play basic should not be playing the same game as those playing advanced.  I feel that gives the coaches that play basic a disadvantages, and those that play advance should be rewarded for their time, but not at the expense of a coach due to a choice.

Maybe once they get the engine right then this will be a more important topic.

I would think you could, but apparently not or they would have.  It was probably a conspiracy to start over instead of fix what we have as some coaches would not believe that changes were made.

Even on GD's worse day its better than HD,  1 season did it for me in that game.  Again my own opinion.
