How many games must be played before you can call a guy up from the minors and not have it count as a yr. of major league service and start is arb. clock?

Meh.   You only have one off day in the first 20 minor league days.

Plus I think farting around with this "strategy" isn't very smart anyway.

My rule of thumb: if the minor league season starts on the Wednesday AM cycle, do your call ups after next Wednesday's AM cycle.  A few extra days, but takes the counting out of the process.

Plus, maths is hard.
