This is a friendly, drama free world, with a fairly quiet chat board, entering our thirtieth season. We generally have at most four openings per season, which are almost always filled before or at least within a day or two of rollover. I, the commish, am dedicated to keeping this world fun and fair for all of our members. Although we prefer to get experienced owners, noobs are accepted. We have a good core of long-term owners who only want what is best for the world in the long term. Our blog is fairly neglected. We occasionally get some season previews done, as well as a couple of other feature pieces. As a group, we have motivation to keep things fair, since way back in season ten we discovered and eliminated a collusion problem. It's been clear sailing ever since. We know the damage that cheating can cause to a world, so if you plan on doing some nefarious activities, please don't apply. For those who like parity, this world is one of the best! We regularly have only one or two 100 plus win teams and we rarely have more than one or two 100 plus loss teams.
We have some rules:
Banned Ballparks: No franchise shall locate itself in a Major League ballpark with a combined effects tally of 16 or more plus or minus
Anti Tanking: Failure to achieve 55 wins in a season or 115 wins in consecutive seasons at the ML level will result in a vote for expulsion from the world.
Prospect Spending Cap: No franchise shall spend more than 30 million in prospect money in any one season. Violation of this rule will result in the owner not being allowed to return the following season.
Minor League Stocking: You must sign at least 15 draft picks and/or international free agents per season.
Cash in trades: No amount of cash in any single trade shall exceed the amount of pro-rated salary of the player(s) going the same way.
Park Relocation: Franchises may only be moved once during the tenure of a single owner. The exception to this rule occurs if an owner wants to relocate back to a previous location.
We have three confirmed openings at this point,
the NL North's Chicago
will have the 4th or 5th pick in next season's amateur draft. Has drafted early most seasons, so there is a fair amount of good young talent, such as star SS Willie Romero
, stud SP Jerome Johnson
, slugging 1B Jerry Adams
, talented SP Cristian Brooks
, and some premier prospects such as SPs Wallace Winston
and Michael Danks
, and RP John Lee
. If you are up for a challenge, know that the NL North has traditionally been one of the toughest divisions in this world, with the three other teams in this division having won 9 of the 29 titles in Yaz so far. This team has 39.2M committed for season 30, and 26M for season 31.
The AL North's Ottawa
franchise is available for the first time in 20 seasons. This team has a bonafide franchise player in Steven Soriano
, and a good supporting cast in Willie Montanez
, Kimera Rhodes
, Paul Kojima
and Jean Berkman
. The ML pitching staff is weak, but the minors hold a few pitching prospects that should become solid ML players in the future. Big money IFA signing Pedro Javier
heads up the list of pitching prospects that includes first round pick Norm Cone
, and IFA signings Eli Guerrero
and Benny Morales
. The franchise is not short on positional talent either, with talents like Alex Marmol
and Salvador Rodriguez
in the system. Ottawa will draft 12th in the upcoming draft, and should get extra picks when type A free agent Jin Ho Sano
inevitably signs. This team has 48.63M committed in payroll for season 30, and 25.8M for seaosn 31.
The AL East's Hartford
was a victim of the world's min win rule, after finishing the season with only 52 wins. Not many noteworthy players. This team needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom. Some of the players and prospects that might be worth keeping are SP Vic Aguilera
, 2B Johnnie Seay
, 5th overall draft pick SS Philip Bonds
and SP Paulie McCartney
. First overall pick in the draft. This team has 53 M committed to season 30's player payroll, and 40 for season 31.
