Recap
The AL was never close. The Orioles won by 20 games and are overwhelming World Series favorites. The NL was led by the Phillies, who led the whole way but went 7-6 in September.
Finances
New York had the largest average attendance in the NL with 38 thousand and they were 14 thousand ahead of 2nd place Boston. Washington in the AL with 31 thousand and lead by 3 thousand over Chicago. The Brewers, A's, and Tigers are at the bottom in the AL and the Cardinals, Pirates, and Orphans in the NL. Cincy has the most profit in the NL and the Tigers in the AL. The Tigers have the most money in the AL and the AL looks like it's got ATM machines incorperated with it. Their least of 4.9 M from the Beaneaters is good compared to the NLs best of 8.8 M held by the Reds. New York has the highest payroll in the NL at 69.8 M and they still have 10 M in cap space by far the best in the NL so look out. The highest in the AL is 59 M for Washington and they also have cap space as well with 13 M. Detroit has freed up 15 M with a 20.2 M payroll.

YOUR 1901 CHAMPS: PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES, 4-1 OVER BALTIMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

A stunning upset; nobody but Philadelphians thought this was coming. Philly crushed Baltimore.
Next: Free Agents!!!!!!!!
2/7/2014 8:13 PM
First off, 3 changes to the league:
  • The Chicago Orphans are now the Chicago Cubs
  • The Boston Americans are now the Boston Somersets
  • The Milwaukee Brewers are now the St. Louis Browns
FREE AGENTS
Here are the top free agents at each position and who they signed with:
C: Frank Chance .383, 1, Phillies
1B: Dan McGann .290, 0, Giants
2B: Nap Lajoie .381, 1, Orioles
3B: Tommy Leach .345, 2, Athletics
SS: Barry McCormick .324, 1, Giants
LF: Jimmy Sheckard .281, 2, Somersets
CF: Danny Green .341, 2, Athletics
RF: Honus Wagner .356, 0, Giants
Sorry I missed pitching but the big things I notice here is the A's and Giants developing into possible powerhouses. The A's get two middle of the order hitters and the Giants get big prize Wagner who is one of the best hitters and McGann. Also the Orioles and Phillies getting better. The Orioles grab the best prize of the offseason in Lajoie. The defending champs grab Chance.
Amateur Draft:
I just may have made a big mistake in maybe not making it historical rookies... I don't reconize anybody but here's the first round:
Tigers: 1B Allen Chaim
Superbas: 1B James Macbeolain
Blues: 3B Dan Gwynne
Cardinals: 3B Eddie Loftin
Browns: RF Jason McGinty
Senators: CF Matt Thomas
Beaneaters: 1B Rodger Liepmann
Cubs: C Jeff Buckeridge
White Sox: 2B James Shipman
Somersets: CF Johnny Dukette
Reds: P Harry Gaspar
Pirates: P Lew Richie
Giants: CF Kevin Villiars
A's: C Jim Macguaran
Phillies: 3B Jay Hunt
Orioles: CF Derek Helms
The first pick was Chaim Allen who has a potential rating of 100 so he is a potential superstar. Right now he has  rating of 71. He is going to majorly impact them soon.

Your 1902 champs: The BALTIMORE ORIOLES, 4-3 over New York
____________
A page from the Baseball Daily paper:
"These kinds of series are great for baseball. We need more of these and we hope that this kind of thing continues. The 1902 series, though, will go down in history as one of the best ever. The Orioles, after experiencing a upset, now are the underdogs, without leader McGraw. Then you have the mighty New Yorkers, having a POTY and the best offense baseball has ever seen. The Orioles take games one and two, then the Giants take three straight and things look grim for Baltimore. Baltimore pulls out a 5-4 win in game 6, forces a deciding game 7. The Giants are confident. The Orioles jump out to a 3-0 lead, but New York fights back. Then Baltimore clinches it in the 8th by scoring two, making it 5-3. New York only got one back. Baseball got many more followers this series, as it featured David and Goliath, two extra inning games, a close Game 7, and a major upset. As I said, baseball needs more of these...."

Sorry no offseason I had just finished the post and then accidentaly deleted it so here is the big news:
  • The Boston Somersets are now the Pilgrims
  • The Blues are now the Broncos
  • The Orioles are now the New York Highlanders
  • The Senators signed reigning POTY winner Nixey Callahan
  • The A's signed Cy Young
  • The Beaneaters got Tully Sparks
  • The Superbas got the best position player in the market in Wahoo Sam Crawford
  • The Cubs got P Nap Rucker with the #1 pick. He has a rating of 83 right now and a potential of 91.
  • The Beaneaters got Eddie Cicotte with the #8 pick. His rating is 79/89
  • The A's took Chief Bender #11. His rating is 89/90

I think New York gets back on the shoulders of some young pitcher named Christy Mathewson, and the Highlanders get back too in an all- New York World Series. Brooklyn is much better than 73-81 and will have a shot at a World Series. The Senators are a team to reckon with and also the A's as they both got great pitchers in Cy Young and Nixey Callahan.
