I attempted a silly pull-down and now I'm left with 2 open spots and i have $925. I'm thinking my choices are to take one walk on and send 1 scholarship and 2 HV to hopefully sign a decent player. Or I could try to send 2 scholarships and 2 HV (1 each). What would my best option be?

You have lots of options.

* Scholarship and start ($110, distance doesn't matter)
* HV and scholarship ($ variable , distance does mater)
* 30 Letters, 30 Calls, scholarship ( $850, distance doesn't matter)

If you are willing to use the start (or starts), I would wait to the final day (after 11 am). By that point everyone who has dropped will drop down.
then FSS 4ish states and $110 special the the best guy.

Taking one walkon isn't a bad idea.

If you decide to talk 1 walk-on, it shouldn't have any negative effect on the practice of your other players on the team. Not a bad idea.

Thanks guys!!! I never knew I had those kind of options.

I've never used that one.  What % of the time would you say that works?

Currently 1/1!

5/6/2014 call current coach - (10) $100
5/6/2014 letters - (10) $150
5/6/2014 phone calls - (10) $100
5/6/2014 call current coach - (10) $100
5/6/2014 scholarship offer $100
5/6/2014 letters - (10) $150
5/6/2014 phone calls - (10) $100
5/6/2014 call current coach $10
  Total $820

This is 41 and 20 but 30/30 is more value.

This was a D3 recruit from the get go and either pre signing or the day after.    What I found really interesting is  that he rejected minutes with the calls and letters.

Interesting, I might have to try that.  Is there still a threshold for calls/letters where they start getting angry about them?  I was thinking ~30 was that limit.

fwiw I've always found they tend to reject minutes very liberally.  It seems like they'll only accept minutes if you're being considered and ahead, but that's probably not exactly correct.

Didn't know about the 30 letters and 30 calls either, Trenton....that's nice for picking up a late-in-the-game player that's across the country

Wait, I just noticed 21 of those are coach calls.  I didn't think those even had recruiting value??

5/13/2014 2:58 PM
Why wouldn't they?

I guess I was thinking the value you get from coach calls is in finding out the sets (and backup status, but player calls mostly do that too).  Maybe I just made that up in my own head.

1. The forum fact for the limit on letters and calls is 60. I have never gone over that.
2.Minutes suck.

I want to say that I have gone 80 on calls before to a d3 kid in a Hawaii, before he got mad at the excessive calls.  But I don't recall exactly.  Only reason I say with was 80 is because I poured about 950 to him in total when it was all said and done with (i think????)

they do, but less. i think they are the least efficient tool in every situation.

its just about 1 hv and scholarship, so, i'd say most of the time... but i think you were in that other thread where it came out that my 1hv+ship guidance might not be so good.
