not every guy will take 30 calls and 30 letters.  At some # they feel pestered and say stop - I have seen guys say stop as low as 25

still not cheap method really.  I would think you could do 1 HV + scholarship offer and save a few hundred.

I have found 1 HV and a scholly doesn't always work with drop downs. Thats why I switched to letters and calls food guys past 500,or so miles.

Effort does cumulate, so there is no need for everything to be sent in one cycle. However, to your suggestion of sending 40 calls in one cycle and 40 letters the next... there is really no point. 40 calls will almost definitely not get him to consider you and you essentially gain no valuable information by sending them, so why only stick your toe in the pool when you can jump in with minimal increased effort? It pays to do it in the same cycle.
