It's mind boggling and ridiculous how far off the 100% effective is on every position in the sim. There are PG's who shouldn't be 100% at SG. There are a lot of SG's who should be 100% at SF. There are SG's who shouldn't be 100% at PG. There are a lot of SF's who shouldn't be 100% at SG. There are SF's who should be 100% at SG. There are SF's who shouldn't be 100% at PF. There are SF's who should be 100% at PF. There are PF's who are 100% at SF who shouldn't be. There are a lot of PF's who aren't 100% at C who should be. The C position is probably the most accurate although there are still some C's who should be 100% at PF and some who shouldn't be.
Why is LeBron 100% at PG but Pippen & Grant Hill aren't?
Why are SF like Dantley who never played SG 100% effective? He never played SG and was way too slow to defend SG's not to mention he was a post player who couldn't handle well and had no shooting range. Because he was undersized they assume he played SG lol. The position effective should be decided with a players ability not height.
Why aren't Thorpe, Oakley, & Antonio Davis 100% at C along with many others? There are many other PF's who should be 100% at C especially from the 80's and 90's and there are many PF's who are very questionable or shouldn't be at 100% especially since the late 90's to the present.? Most of the C's in the NBA now are really PF's, and most PF's are SF's. The players in the NBA today are soft.
The defensive rankings are really screwed up also. Otis Thorpe was one of the best if not the best defensive PF in the NBA his whole career and he is in the 30's or low 40's in the sim because he played with Olajuwon LMFAO. Thorpe should be in the 80's-90's range at the very least. When Olajuwon went out of the game Thorpe would D up the best opposing C's better than any other PF's in the game. Why? Because he was one of the best defensive PF/C's in the NBA. The same goes for Bill Laimbeer. He was an excellent defensive player on a great defensive team. Laimbeer should be in the 70's not the 30's.
The biggest joke of all is Bill Russell. He is easily one of the top 2 greatest defensive C's to ever play the game and his defensive rankings in the sim are absolutely ridiculous. The other greatest being Olajuwon obviously!
These are just a few of the ridiculous mistakes. I haven't even mentioned the players who are rated way too high like Larry Nance LMFAO what a joke! Larry Nance a defensive stopper lol. I don't think so. Not even close.
There are many other horrible defensive rankings that are way off also. The biggest problem I have with the defensive rankings is that if a player blocks a lot of shots their rankings are a lot of times way too high. Just because you can block shots doesn't always make you a great defensive player. Don't get me wrong, there are some great shot blockers who also were great defensive players like Mutombo but a lot of these players in the 2000's are way overrated defensively. I would love to see them try to defend Jordan, Dream, Bird, Malone, Barkley, Robinson and many other greats from the 80's & 90's.
