I have no doubt that there was an odd player here or there who experimented with PED back in the 80s. However, conventional wisdom at the time was lifting weights was bad for your game. You'd see an occassional Greg Luzinski but they'd be more "thick" than "jacked". I really do think it was Canseco who brought 'roids to the game. Not because he was swoll up but because he was jacked and good. So, naturally, other players said "What are you doing?"
