Home Grown Franchise (Full) Topic

Have you ever wondered what your favorite team would look like if your GM hadn't made that stupid trade?  We're talking to you Bill Bavasi!

Select a franchise using players that were originally drafted AND signed by your team and twist those players to any season of their career between 1965 (first year of amateur player draft!) and 2014.

Players signed before 1965 are OK to use with your franchise, as long as that season is between 1965-2014.  Players signed from Japan/Cuba/Mexico, etc are fine to use also since they weren't drafted as long as they are with their original team (Ichiro on the Mariners)

Franchise history is fine (Twins/Senators, Rangers/Senators, Brewers/Pilots, Nationals/Expos, etc.)

Players that were originally drafted by a franchise but did not sign with that team are not eligible.  Think of JD Drew getting pelted with batteries by the Philly Phanatics.

League Rules
  • $110 million cap
  • Seasons: 1965-2014

  • YES:  DH, Injuries
  • Stadium: must be used by your franchise during the time frame.

I've created a spreadsheet for eligible players which I can provide to help you draft your team, just sitemail me your email.

So we use our homegrown player and then any player from that franchise between 1965 and 2014? Or do we have to use players from that franchise and just from the year if the homegrown player we are using? And is anyone blacklisted within the 1965 - 2014 range of players?

Since I'm full of questions, I will take Bob Gibson and the Cardinals using only 1965-2014 seasons. Gibson was signed by the Cardinals per BR.

I'll put you down for the Cardinals.  You don't need to pick an exclusive player upon signing up as every player on your roster will be exclusive to your franchise.

Here are some other players eligible on the Cardinals:

Ted Simmons, Keith Hernandez, Albert Pujols, Tommy Herr, Terry Pendleton, JD Drew, Andy Van Slyke, Steve Carlton, John Denny, Ray Washburn, Luke Gregerson, Ray Searage, Lindy McDaniel.

The Cardinals do not get to use Mark McGwire (A's), Willie McGee (Yankees), Ozzie Smith (Padres) or John Tudor (Red Sox) however.  Make sense?

Just to clarify, players signed from Japan, Cuba, Korea, etc are eligible in this league as long as the players are used on their original team (Nomo on the Dodgers for example.)

I'll give this a try. Put me down for the Mil Brewers. Also, please site mail me list of players who originally were drafted by the brew crew.

Wanted to also point out that franchise history can be used when selecting players from your franchise.

I'd be interested in the Royals.
