i was able to find three more interesting allhuman coached teams that were better than me with worse records, no post seasons and similar RPIs.  so now Im to the conclusion its not as easy as wins/loses, RPIs or prestige.

there is also home court baseline, which is based on real life attendance figures. real life virginia tech basketball isn't that popular, as far as i know, maybe those other schools are all higher baseline HCA? VT is in a big 6 conf while two of those are in top tier mid majors, but VT is also a football school, i could believe VT has lower basketball attendance.
