Glavine 300 is a great league with historically very few openings and quick rollovers under the great leadership of RoyalOkie. RoyalOkie is retiring his commish duties due to time constraints and handing over the reins this year.
We only have 1 league rule:
MINIMUM WIN REQUIREMENT - Any owner who records 120 wins or less during a two season span will be subject to a league wide review which will take place during the first round of the playoffs. During this review, if any one owner submits a request to the commissioner that the owner should be removed from the league, that violating owner will not be asked to return for the following season. If no owner submits a request to dismiss the violating owner, the violating owner will be allowed to stay.
Owners are also expected to keep their minors in good working order.
We just rolled and once everyone gets back in, we are expecting 5 openings. (UPDATE: DOWN TO ONLY 1 TEAM!)
AL North Trenton Devils: http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=4004
This a loaded team as the fruits of having 6 six staight 60-ish win seasons are coming to bear. This team has a lot of great young talent at the ML or AAA level. Examples include 22 year old Slade Hackman (which is also a great name!) www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx and 23 year old D.T. May www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx With a good owner, this team should become a powerhouse for a long time. TAKEN
AL East Norfolk Admirals www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx
This team has been rebuilding for several years and has stockpiled a set of high draft picks. Unfortunately, the current owner will not be able to reap the benefits as they had to leave HBD due to financial constraints. Check out Banjo Olsen www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx, Luis Mercedes www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx, Charles Mathews www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx -- there are a lot of great young pitchers to build a team around. TAKEN
AL South: San Juan Warlords www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx
Jwinner5, after 26 seasons and 11 world series titles with this franchise, is stepping aside and letting some other teams compete for the WS title. He is certainly not leaving because the cupboard is bare, his team is stocked with both young and veteran talent. 12 players on the ML roster have overall ratings over 75 including perennial all-stars Bengie Franco (SP) and 27 year old Pedro Blanco who hits 60+ home runs and OPS over .950. These are big shoes to fill and the Warlord fans are use to championships, but if you want a chance to carry on the Warlords tradition, let me know. TAKEN
AL South: Tampa Bay Ts www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx
This team is solid and finished with a 82-80 record last year. They have a collection of strong veterans including Juan Diaz, www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx and Brian Nakano www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx, and Allen Dubler www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx.
A new owner could go a couple directions. They could use these veterans to make some trades for prospects or try to add a few more FAs to compete immediately. TAKEN
NL North: Philadelphia Philanderers: www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx
This team has been under stable ownership over the last 20 seasons and coming off 3 straight division titles. This team is lead by veteran talent such as Oswaldo Redondo but also had good young pitching talent such as Cristobal Johnson (OVR 83, age 23), Groucho Bryant (OVR 83, age 25) and Virgil Creek (OVR 81, age 25) This team should be able to continue its run of division titles. TAKEN
NL West: Helena Mountaineers www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx
This team has struggled the last few years but know has a stable of good young talent including Hamm Hanity www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx and Vince Busby www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx. They also have only 1 player with a long term contract (and only $5M year) so there is plenty of flexibility. The team also has the #7 pick this year. This is really a good team for fans of rebuilds. TAKEN
Please sitemail or respond in this thread if you are interested. We welcome veteran and new owners.
