Player Progression Different in D2 ? Topic

First season in Div2. Was wondering if there is anything I need to know that is different in regards to player improvement as compared to Div 3?

I know improvements can be streaky game to game. Overall all though they all seem to balance out by the end of the year. I have a couple of redshirts (plus others) that have improved less than I have ever experienced. Was wondering if i was missing something? This is after 11 games.

All three are 2 potentials. I know their WE isn't great but I have had players with much worse improve much more

You're averaging about 18 plus points for each player. I'm averaging about 25, but my freshmen have better WEs, and I don't put as much into formation practice as you do. For freshmen, the potential doesn't really affect them much unless the guy is an STL or "tapped out", so it looks like you're getting the right results. If you want to see more improvement, get them playing time, or shift some practice minutes from team practice to position practice. You can also boost their WE by getting them starts.

I have 35 minutes put into team practice. That is too much? I thought I was being cheap there.

I don't know what a STL is. I only have 10 seasons of Div3 under my belt for reference but haven't seen such a low 1.5 improvement per game for a player ...even with guys with a much worse WE

Your QB has a higher W/E by 9 ....and has improved by 14 more and has added 79 to his formations. My QB has improved his formations by 40....and you have less practice time in formations?

You also have to remember that players that start with higher ratings don't grow as fast in those ratings. The closer you get to 90 the slower your ratings will grow.

That is a good point.

Still getting pummeled by Scrodz players who posted above ...and both are div 2 teams

GPA will help a bit with formation IQ...STL means sky's the limit ( from when you recruited them )

Also helps the more you successfully use a formation IN GAMES ..
.. I think

Well it looks like I am going to ruin another QB

3 games + 2 exhibition games = -2 improvement ? I have 145 minutes for player development. 42 WE isn't great but it's not terrible. I have other Freshman on the roster with lower WE and have improved more.

What's the deal with this? Kind of game breaking for me to be honest.

It's not all based on WE. Potential is more important and you can only learn potential from scouting the player during recruiting. Think of improvement as a pitcher of water. Potential is how big the pitcher is, while WE is how fast the pitcher fills up. if you have a small pitcher, it won't matter how fast the water flows in. Also, redshirts grow at a much slower rate.

Player development is actually one of the most reliable aspects of the game.

This is another redshirt on my roster. He has 5 improvements. His WE is 7 lower and the same potential of 2

That looks pretty standard for a guy you have redshirted and has a low WE.  One thing to point out is that all potentials are not equal. They are a range.  Ex: Skys the limit might be 80-100, good potential might be 60-80, etc.  These are not the actual numbers, just using them as an example to say that all good potential players are not exact equal in potential.  And I do not know what the actual ranges are.

Yea his improvements aren't terrible. Was just pointing out even with his lower WE he still has more improvements than the QB I listed

Edit: The QB got his first improvements in game 6 ...so at least he is in the positive now !
