I hear you. I do have a question though. In your first set of rules (the one where the 20 was only at R5), where it says "If a player with more than one season remaining on his contract is left unassigned by the R5 roster freeze, said player must be placed on waivers". Does this go into effect even if you have less than 20 players on your 20/40?

No, as long as the number of players unassigned and on the 40 combined is 20 or less.

Unassigned player with a multi-season contract.  Not on the 40.  Waiver status is either "cleared" or "pending" at the time of R5.

Is that OK?

Another one: you have 19 players on the 40, and 3 unassigned LT guys not on waivers.

Which 2 of those 3 have to get waived?

Is this a trick question?

Where's rockindock? "Rules are rules." I'd say all 3.

You know what?  I agree.  No more Mr Nice Guy.  No compromises.  There is no reason to keep a guy unassigned, so I'll go with that.  I change my answer to all 3.  The rules have to be enforced as written.  Thanks, bjshumacher.

No.

I have 20 on the 40.  I have one LT guy unassigned, but he has already gone (or is currently going) through waivers.

Your post above says "unassigned + number of guys on the 40 has to be 20 or less".  I'm just trying to clarify.  Is that ALL unassigned, or only unassigned LT guys who have not been exposed to waivers?  Ambiguity leads to confusion.

Remember, the "unassigned loophole" that we were trying to close was for guys who were DFA'd without waivers.
