Any updates?

Ford world is one vote away from unanimously approving the rules. Next step would be to remove the mookieskid and thejam.

Are ALL the incoming owner fully on-board with the rules?  Do you have a head count of exactly who is committing to be part of the incoming group?

I'm good with it.

Once I get unanimous support from everyone who is currently in the world (some of whom are newcomers), I will write up the private world rules.  Then, I will get all newcomers to say they have read, understood and will comply with them.  With runrunn dropping out, I'm pretty sure we won't have enough to fill Ford, but I still haven't put an iota into marketing.  Two people have asked me to join (bjshumaker and dubrightway) since I took over the helm, and I have confidence that I'll be able to fill the remaining spots quickly.  I'm going to start by spamming the Draft Tourney World (probably the nerdiest group of HBDers out there IMO)

The guy with the #1 WW priority is going to have a huge advantage.    He will have the pick of 4 players in the first purge and 2 every day after that.   My 75 win Hamilton team was built on nothing but WW claims and FA leftovers.   It worked out pretty well for me.

And that was on players discarded from the 40 not the 20.   The #1 WW priority is going to have a big advantage early on.

Seems like the waiver wire has a much bigger effect than the r5 draft with this theme. Interesting.

Now you could say "Not much difference" and I only argue for a few minutes.   But one team got one entire group while 5 teams got 1 each from the other group.   Who did much better?

Just because I've been following along, and I think it could be an interesting concept if done properly, here's what I'd do in the next version:

1.  No waiver claims prior to the R5 draft.
2.  No more than 20 protected at the time of the R5 draft(easy to check/enforce).
3.  The only players who can be unassigned would be FA signed less than 24 hours prior to R5 draft freeze(also easy to check/enforce).
4.  One(1) FA signing for 48 hours per team AFTER the R5 draft.

If I wanted more quality to be distributed in the R5, I'd lower the number of protected players to 15, maybe even 12.   You accomplish this by assigning low level minor leaguers to the 40.   You can only draft 10 in the R5 so, if you protected 15 "real" players, your roster would be those 15 and the R5 picks.   Maybe a few late FA would populate that roster. 

Problem is you can't drop your BL roster under 20, so that forces the minimum you can protect 20 AND they all have to be on the BL roster.

As I just said, you assign crap minor leaguers to your BL team to make it 20. 

Forces teams to waste about 1.6m but it forces everyone to do it so the market will adjust as needed.

What are your thoughts about letting teams sign FAs DURING the R5 roster freeze? That was a topic of discussion while it was actually happening many times.

IMO we should keep it at 20 protected, and we should limit the number of successful waiver claims per team to 3 before the R5 draft. 

I'm pretty much ok with leaving it as it is. We have a pretty strong MWR, so I don't mind heavily rewarding the last place team.

The second and fourth ww picks got a good haul each from waivers.
