This will be the draft thread for Season 1 of the Franchise Twist Progressive.  Our first franchise will be the Arizona Diamondbacks. Picks will not be timed (there will be no clock), but please be considerate of the other owners and try to pick timely.  Please sitemail the next 2 owners once you have made your selection.  Remember you're drafting an individual season from Diamondbacks history to twist and once a year is chosen it is off the board.  I hope I've covered everything, please let me know if you have any questions.


For each season:
Alignment will be based on team salary (to give the lesser teams a fighting chance to at least win their division)
Cap is $100 million
DH for AL franchises, no DH for NL franchises
$200 - $225K players may be any from franchise's history but MUST be replaced by AAA player if not a member of your twisted team
6,2 Average AAA
No to WW and trades, No Clones
Ballpark must be the stadium used by your team in the year chosen
I'd prefer that you include your year in your team name

Wow, I can't remember the last time I've picked 1st in anything.  I need a bit of time to research.  Busy at work now.  I will make a pick this evening for sure. (My preliminary research has it narrowed down to 3 years).

We'll see.  My other choices were 2008 and 2002.   I'm just trying to balance picking the team with the best chance to win while also getting a team that can improve on it's real-life winning %.  I see elduro put more weight on the latter.  I think 2002 probably has the most talent of any season.  2008 was close to 2003.  I liked 2008's pitching slightly better, but didn't like the offense as much.

I was definitely looking at the most improved award, but I still made it to $100m with ease so I don't think this team is any worse than the other top contenders anyway.  Unit+Gonzalez+Alomar is a pretty good chunk out of the cap.  The rest of the staff is average, but so is any other year without Schilling and Johnson.
